IHEDIOHA ADDRESSES REBUILD IMO MOVEMENT LEADERS: OFFICIALLY UNVEILS ADC AS THE PARTY OF CHOICE FOR THE NATIONAL COALITION

In what will be remembered as a watershed moment in the evolving political trajectory of Imo State, the leadership of the Rebuild Imo Movement, a deeply rooted and ideologically driven grassroots force, gathered today at the Owerri residence of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, CON, KSC, a figure widely revered for his statesmanship, clarity of purpose, and enduring connection with the people.
Despite the short notice, leaders of the movement drawn from the 27 Local Government Areas of the state came in their numbers. This is an attestation to the undying loyalty, trust, and shared vision that continue to bind the movement together. It was not just a meeting; it was a convergence of conviction, history, and renewed direction.
Just a week prior, an enlarged leadership session had been convened at the new strategic headquarters of the movement, where Dr. Vin Udokwu, the State Director-General, state exco, alongside the zonal coordinators, briefed the leaders on the concluding deliberations of the national coalition, a broad-based alliance of credible Nigerian patriots seeking to rescue and redirect the Nigerian state toward justice, competence, and renewal.
Today, the curtain was finally drawn.
His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, officially unveiled the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as the chosen political platform for the national coalition, after exhaustive consultations, painstaking negotiations, and strategic alignments.
In his calm yet emotionally charged address, Ihedioha began by expressing his deep gratitude to the movement's stakeholders, who, for over two years, remained without a party, a rare feat in today’s political climate, simply because they trusted his judgment. That organic solidarity, he remarked, is something he does not take lightly.
"I’m proud of every one of you. The selflessness is palpable. Many can’t understand how we’ve stayed this long without a political party, yet stronger and more focused. But I knew what we were baking. The objective was clear, build a national movement rooted in values, not vengeance; vision, not vanity."
He described the process that birthed the final choice of the ADC as painstaking but ultimately rewarding, a coming together of credible Nigerian voices from across the federation. He referred to it as “the assemblage of nation builders and patriots bound by love for country, not lust for power.”
“Yesterday, the ADC was unveiled as the agreed platform for this national rebirth. I stand before you today to say boldly that I am joining the ADC, and I encourage everyone who believes in our shared values to follow suit.”
That statement sparked an electric response. The hall erupted in cheers, chants, and a standing ovation. In unison, the leaders from all LGAs present declared unequivocally: “We are going with you!”; no dissent, no doubt, just undiluted solidarity.
Rt. Hon. Ihedioha emphasized that while the movement was patient in its decision, it was never directionless. The goal was to anchor with a platform whose internal democracy, national outlook, and developmental ethos matched the ideals of the Rebuild Imo Movement.
“We could have compromised. We had offers. But we chose to wait. We would rather remain party-less than disappoint you.”
He assured all leaders that his style of inclusive leadership remains unchanged; “I will carry everyone along, work with everyone, and deepen internal democratic systems at every level. That’s my guiding principle.”
With the official unveiling now done, the Rebuild Imo Movement is set to launch into full-scale political action under the ADC banner. The fusion of this well-oiled grassroots machinery with a national coalition platform positions ADC as a formidable force in Imo State and beyond.
The implications are seismic.
What this means is that the Rebuild Imo Movement, an organization that commands wide respect, structures across all polling units, and unwavering popular appeal in Imo state, is now no longer an idea waiting to happen. It has become an active participant in the political arena, fully aligned with a national party and prepared to deliver the dividends of democracy from the bottom up.
The days of ideological limbo are over. The silence of waiting has given way to the momentum of engagement.
“Our target is simple: by 2027, we will present a political alternative so credible, so tested, so loved by the people that even our opponents will admire what we’ve built. We will show that politics can still be dignified, people-driven, and principle-led.”
Going forward, ADC in Imo State will no longer be a fringe actor. With the Rebuild Imo Movement now anchoring its structure and direction, the party will rapidly evolve into the most structured, disciplined, and forward-looking political vehicle in the state, the party to beat come 2027 and beyond.
