Seamlessly, September has been a Month of international significance for global awareness on Sickle Cell. As we observe Sickle Cell Awareness Month 2026, I join the global community in drawing attention to the realities faced by people living with sickle cell disease and the need for greater understanding, compassion, and support.
This yearβs theme, βClosing the Survival Gap: Equity in Sickle Cell Disease Care,β is a call that underscores an urgent need for equal access to sickle cell diagnosis and treatment across all regions and income levels.
The theme inspires locals communities to raise their voices, raise awareness, and demand better assistance and care by ensuring sickle cell disease patients have the tools and support they need to improve their quality of life while contributing back to their communities.
I encourage families, communities, healthcare providers, and all stakeholders across Osun state and global communities to continue creating awareness, supporting those affected, and promoting early testing and informed care.
Together, we can close the gap, challenge stigma, and build a society where no one is left behind.
