Today, we celebrate democracy and the enduring Nigerian spirit. For 27 unbroken years, since May 29, 1999, Nigerians have chosen their leaders through the ballot, witnessed peaceful transitions of power, and resolved disagreements in courtrooms and legislative chambers not through violence.
We have experienced the longest stretch of civilian rule in our history.

Our democracy is not perfect, but it is ours, and we must continue to defend and strengthen it.

We 're Solidly Behind President Tinubu's Reelection Bid - Oluwo Declares

…As Osun City Boy Movement Pays Royal Homage, Seeks Support For Oyebamiji, Tinubu

A foremost traditional ruler, the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdul-Rasheed Adewale Akanbi on Sunday declared royal support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's reelection bid.

The revered monarch reaffirmed readiness to ensure the victory of the President in the forthcoming 2027 general elections.

This is even as members of the Osun State chapter of the City Boy Movement on Sunday paid royal homage and advocacy visit to the palace of Oluwo for royal blessings and support.

Recall that the train of Osun City Boy Movement led by its State Director, Engr. Kayode Sowade, visited Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi few days ago as part of their advocacy tours to cities, towns and villages across the nooks and crannies of the state.

Receiving the youths in his palace, Oba Akanbi openly extolled President Tinubu's transformative leadership that had turned the nation's fortunes in almost three years of his administration.

Oluwo who was flanked by some royal fathers in Iwoland, including Akire of Ikire Ile, Onisara of Feesu, Ologburo of Ogburo, Oloja of Agberire, Olu of Akinleye, Agbodowu of Foritaje, Oloke of Obamoro, Olota of Ilota, and the Alajagba of Ajagba, maintained that the present administration in the country had performed creditably well across sectors of the economy most significantly infrastructure, education, health, agriculture and financial discipline and reengineering.

He threw his weight behind the President's indellible imprints saying "Tinubu has done excellently well in reviving our dearth economy and repositioning our country to the path of sustainable socioeconomic transformation, growth and development in the last three years."

While showering royal blessings on the members of the City Boy Movement, the revered monarch prayed for peaceful and successful conduct of the forthcoming Osun governorship election and general elections in the country.

In his short remarks, the State Director, Osun City Boy Movement, Engr. Kayode Sowade lauded Oluwo for always promoting the sociocultural heritage of Yoruba race anywhere in the world.

He particularly eulogized Oba Akanbi for his distinction as an unrepentant, inimitable and indomitable progressive monarch whose immense contributions to the rejuvenation of traditional institution can not be overemphasised.

According to him, the visit was aimed to intimate people particularly youths and women to the great achievements of the President Tinubu's government.

Sowade noted that the Movement is irrevocably committed to bridge the gap between the government and the masses thorough intense advocacy and gospel of the good things of the central government.

He used the occasion to appeal to the people of the ancient town to continue to support President Tinubu's government in its efforts to build a nation of the citizens' dream and vote massively for the progressive party- the All Progressives Congress, APC in the forthcoming governorship election in Osun and general elections next year.

Ongoing Massive Mobilisation Will Give Clearest Victory to Tinubu — Osun CityBoy

The Osun State chapter of the CityBoy Movement on Monday stormed Ile-Ife, affirming that the ongoing massive mobilisation of youths for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027 will give him the clearest electoral victory in Nigeria’s history.

The group also stated that the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), stands a better chance of winning the August 15 governorship election in the state because he is capable, competent, popular, and widely accepted by the people.

The State Director of the movement, Engineer Kayode Sowade, made this known in Ile-Ife when he led members on a courtesy visit to the palace of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, on Monday.

According to him, youths are the primary beneficiaries of the reform programmes of President Tinubu, noting that they stand to gain even more in areas such as agriculture, education, and human development, among others, if he is re-elected.

“This formidable movement is about bridging the gap between the government and the masses, particularly Nigerian youths. We have come to the palace of the Ooni of Ife to receive royal blessings. We are resolute in mobilising the electorate, especially youths, to vote massively for our party’s governorship candidate in Osun and for the re-election of President Tinubu.

We are confident that 2027 is already won because no president has matched what President Tinubu has achieved in the last two years across sectors, particularly in infrastructure, health, education, commerce, and industry.”

Also speaking, the State Coordinator of the movement, Mr Gafar Ajani Ayodeji, urged youths to take an active role in the re-election bid of President Tinubu, stating that his reforms across all sectors clearly demonstrate that young people have a leader who holds them in high esteem.

He specifically cited the National Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), noting that over 30,000 students in Osun State alone have benefitted, adding that this and other initiatives have renewed hope among Nigerian youths for a better future.

Earlier, the APC Deputy Governorship Candidate, Engineer Benjamin Adereti, stated that Asiwaju Oyebamiji is committed to running a government that will follow the same path of youth development policies as President Tinubu.

“Just like President Tinubu is doing, our government, led by Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), will be inclusive, empowering youths, particularly in agriculture, education, capacity building, and human development.”

A member of the House of Representatives representing Ife Federal Constituency, Honourable Taofeek Ajilesoro, also noted that youth-focused policies embedded in President Tinubu’s reforms have convinced Nigerians of his determination to secure the country’s future.

Addressing the visiting team, Oba Ogunwusi offered prayers for the success of President Tinubu’s second-term ambition and urged the movement to be cautious in its engagement with the public, noting that their approach would determine their level of success.

Meanwhile, after the visit, members of the CityBoy Movement stormed markets in Ile-Ife, where they distributed souvenirs; including plastic bowls, measuring cups, and aprons to market women in the town.
