Gov. Adeleke Urges Newly Sworn-In Justices of Peace to Uphold Integrity, Fairness

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has charged newly inaugurated Justices of Peace (JPs) in the state to serve as ambassadors of peace, honesty, and equity in the discharge of their duties. He also warned them against partisanship, corruption, and abuse of office, stressing that the position demands integrity and dedication to public service.

The governor gave the charge during the inauguration ceremony of one hundred and thirty (130) JPs held at the Local Government Service Commission Hall, State Secretariat Complex, Abere. He reminded the newly sworn-in JPs that the oath they took was not only before the government but also before God and the people they are expected to serve faithfully.

Governor Adeleke described the office of the Justice of Peace as a respected institution with a long-standing tradition in Nigeria’s legal system. According to him, the position is one of honour, trust, and community service, requiring holders to act as impartial mediators and witnesses in legal matters at the grassroots level.

He explained that the Justice of Peace system aligns with his administration’s commitment to bringing justice closer to the people. The governor noted that the initiative would help reduce the burden on conventional courts by resolving certain disputes and matters at the community level.

Adeleke assured the newly inaugurated officers that the state government would continue to provide the necessary support and training required for them to carry out their responsibilities effectively. He expressed confidence that they would justify the trust and confidence reposed in them by the government and the people of Osun State.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the association, Chief George Adeyemi, described the conferment of the Justice of Peace title as a great honour bestowed on carefully selected individuals across the state. He urged the recipients to reciprocate the gesture by carrying out their responsibilities diligently and responsibly.

Chief Adeyemi also commended Governor Adeleke for recognizing the association and supporting its aspirations. He said the governor’s approval of the conferment marked a significant milestone for the group and demonstrated the administration’s commitment to strengthening grassroots justice delivery.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Osun State Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General, Barrister Oluwole Jimi Bada, appreciated the governor for granting swift approval for the conferment of the Justice of Peace title on the awardees. He noted that the initiative would support the judicial system by helping to settle many cases at the community level.

Speaking on behalf of the awardees, Deaconess Mary Awosika expressed gratitude to Governor Adeleke, traditional rulers, and supporters for the honour bestowed on them. She prayed for the continued success of the governor’s administration.

Among those inaugurated were Oba Micheal Adebisi, Oba Musbau Akande Gbenusola, and Comrade Sulaimon Boladale, among others.

Adeleke Vows Major Overhaul of Education Standards in Osun

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to raising the standard of education across the state.

The Governor disclosed this at the Imole SSCE Scholarship Award Ceremony organised by Electronic Collections Group in collaboration with the Osun State Ministry of Education to celebrate academic excellence among students in the Senior Secondary Certificate Examination.

Governor Adeleke who used the award ceremony as a platform to outline his vision for academic excellence, described the event as more than a celebration of achievement, but serves as a catalyst to inspire young people toward a brighter and more competitive future.

Addressing the award recipients at the epoch making event, which was held at Olagunsoye Oyinlola hall, Osun State University, Osogbo, Adeleke urged them to remain disciplined and focused on their academic journeys, emphasizing that their success represents the potential of Osun’s education system. He stressed that his government would continue to invest in policies and programmes that nurture talent and reward hard work among students.

The State helmsman also commended the Ministry of Education, teachers, and key stakeholders for their dedication to improving learning outcomes, acknowledging the role of strategic partnerships, particularly with private sector contributors, in supporting initiatives that enhance educational development in the state.

He therefore called on residents to uphold democratic principles, reject corruption and electoral malpractice, especially as the August 15 governorship election approaches. He linked good governance with sustainable progress in sectors like education.

In his remarks, the Vice Chancellor of Osun State University, Professor Clement Adeboboye, who was represented by Professor Adetunji Kehinde, praised the noticeable improvements recorded under Adeleke’s leadership, particularly in creating a more enabling environment for learning and academic growth.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Education in Osun, Dipo Eluwole highlighted measurable progress, revealing that Osun has climbed significantly in national WAEC rankings, from 37th to 7th position since 2024. He attributed this achievement to targeted interventions such as free eye tests and surgeries for students, alongside broader systemic reforms.

Also speaking, the programme coordinator, Engineer Akinmade Akintoye, said the scholarship awards would become an annual event, adding that the selection of top-performing students was based on official records from WAEC.

The event concluded with the presentation of cash awards to outstanding learners, reinforcing the administration’s commitment to recognizing excellence and driving educational advancement in Osun State.

A total of thirty-one students, representing each local government area in the state, received awards, alongside the overall best candidate, Ajayi Oluwagbotemi Isaac of Ifedore Community Grammar School, Atakumosa East for 2025 SSCE.

Osun State Prepares for Flooding as Federal Warning Hits Home

The Osun State Government has assured residents that it is fully prepared to tackle potential flooding following a federal warning issued by the Federal Ministry of Environment to several states, including Osun.

In a statement issued by the State’s Commissioner for Environment and Sanitation, Hon. Mayowa Adejoorin, said the ministry has been proactive in its responsibilities to mitigate flood risks across the state.

“The Ministry of Environment and Sanitation has always been on top of situations as far as its responsibilities are concerned,” the commissioner stated.

Hon. Adejoorin highlighted several ongoing measures being implemented to ensure free flow of water during the rainy season. These include regular desilting of drainages, dredging of rivers and water channels before the commencement of rains, and the removal of refuse indiscriminately dumped in waterways.

“Aware of the dangers of blocked channels, the ministry is also intensifying awareness campaigns to caution people against dumping refuse and wastes along water ways and channels,” he added.

The commissioner noted that the ministry has consistently enforced disciplinary measures, including fines and prosecutions, against individuals who dump refuse along drains and rivers, describing such actions as deterrents to others.

He further revealed that Osun State has not experienced serious flooding in the last three years, attributing this achievement to the support and funding provided by Governor Ademola Adeleke for the ministry’s vision and recommendations.

“The credit goes to the Governor for supporting our visions and recommendations by way of funding as appropriately,” Hon. Adejoorin said.

Osun State Ministry of Environment and Sanitation Denounces Viral ‘Courtesy Visitation’ Publication as Fake and Malicious

The Osun State Ministry of Environment and Sanitation has strongly refuted a circulating social media publication, describing it as a fabricated and malicious piece of misinformation.

In an official statement signed by Mr Femi Akande, Director of Admin & Supplies on behalf of Engr. Adekunle Tijani, the Permanent Secretary, the ministry declared that the post is the work of a “faceless” and “cowardly” author with no connection to the ministry or the state civil service.

The ministry highlighted key discrepancies in the viral post: no staff named Comrade Issac Owoseni Innocent exists on its nominal roll, the “Quality Assurance Officer” cadre is unknown in the ministry or any Osun MDA.

The statement urged the public to disregard the publication entirely, labeling the author as a “hungry political jobber” acting on behalf of “drowning paymasters” whose attempt has “failed woefully.”

It further challenged the anonymous writer to reveal his department and schedule of duty for proper identification, questioning his absence during past administrations that allegedly introduced controversial practices into the state civil service, such as “Coordinating Directors,” “Half/Modulated Salaries,” lack of promotions, and incremental steps — policies the ministry claimed are unique to Osun and not found in other Nigerian states.

The ministry emphasized that the current leadership under Governor Ademola Adeleke has moved away from such practices, and appealed to residents of the “State of the Living Spring” to discountenance the “useless publication” in its entirety.

2026;_Osun Assembly demands free, fair , credible Guber election come August 2026_ ,..senses foul play over recent redeployment of state Rec

Osun State House of Assembly has frowned at any form of electoral malpractice that the redeployment of the Osun State Independent National Electoral Commission's Resident Commissioner may bring in its wake.

The Speaker ,Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun made this known at a press conference held at the parliamentary section of the Osun State House of Assembly complex today.

Egbedun noted that the sudden redeployment of Dr. Mutiu Agboke with some other officers who may also be redeployed, appears to be part of a deliberate pattern aimed at influencing the electoral process in Osun State.

Egbedun during the press parley anchored his fear and claim on the fact that Ekiti State whose election precedes that of Osun has not experienced this current redeployment surge as is the case of a state like Osun whose election comes up in August.

Rt. Hon. Egbedun used the medium to call on the International community, development partners, and all observers of democratic governance to these developments as they unfold in the state.

He assured that the people of Osun will not in any way or manner be swayed by any political shenanigan being hatched by the opposition preparatory to the August 2026 election;

"Let it be clearly stated that no amount of administrative changes or deployments of interested officials will override the will of the people of Osun State.

"These calculated efforts, no matter how structured, cannot alter the resolve of our people. The people of Osun State are politically conscious, vigilant, and determined to ensure that their votes count and reflect their true choice."stated Egbedun

He, however, enjoined the incoming Resident Electoral Commissioner to ensure that the August 15, 2026 election in Osun state must be conducted in strict compliance with the constitution and electoral laws.

Osun Environment Commissioner Highlights Ministry’s Achievements, Urges Responsible Waste Disposal and Support for Rainstorm Victims

Hon. Mayowa Adejorin, Osun State Commissioner for Environment and Sanitation, has outlined key initiatives undertaken by his ministry since the inception of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration, emphasizing efforts to combat climate change and improve environmental management.

Speaking on Fresh FM Osogbo’s programme “Itesiwaju Osun,” Adejorin detailed several ongoing activities aimed at enhancing the state’s environmental sustainability.

He disclosed that the ministry’s Forestry Department successfully planted 100,000 seedlings of trees across various forest reserves in Osun State. This initiative, he said, forms part of broader mitigation strategies against the impacts of climate change.

The commissioner also highlighted the ministry’s routine monitoring of industrial emissions and vehicle exhaust levels across the state. “We regularly visit major industries and conduct checks on vehicles to control harmful emissions and safeguard public health,” he stated.

Adejorin appealed to residents, particularly market women, to desist from dumping refuse along road medians, describing the practice as unhealthy and environmentally damaging. He advised them to instead patronize private waste management companies operating in the state, noting that their services are effective and their charges are affordable.

In a compassionate note, the commissioner commiserated with victims of the recent rainstorm that affected parts of Osogbo and surrounding communities. He urged those impacted to visit the Osun State Emergency Management Agency (OSEMA) to register their details, as the Adeleke administration is actively working on compensation and support measures for all verified victims.
