2 YEARS IN OFFICE AS THE OVERALL BEST LG CHAIRMAN IN NIGERIA.....Hon Odigwe, poised to do more.

"It has been quite an eventful and challenging time so far in office as the Chairman of Ika North East Local Government Area, but first I must give all Glory to God for his direction and wisdom. And to our political leaders for their guidance" Hon. Hunkamma Monday Odigwe, said this morning shortly after prayers as he clocked two years in office as Chairman of Ika North East Council Area.

"On assumption of office on the 15th July 2024, and in line with the MORE agenda mantra of His Excellency Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, we quickly identified three key areas begging for attention and these areas include:
1) Security of lives and properties
2) Human capital development
3) Infrastructure etc"

SECURITY: "I resumed office when my people could not go to farm because of fear of being kidnapped and my administration swung into action by having series of meetings with traditional rulers, security agencies, youth leaders, vigilantes, Anti-Cult, Owa-Rinma and other groups to find lasting solutions to the menace that later led to the engagement of able bodied men with monthly payment to man our bushes which has resulted to the relative peace we have in the Local Government today".

HUMAN CAPITAL DEVELOPMENT: "We understand that no government can do well when the people are not happy or hungry. We quickly rolled out palliatives to cushion the effect of subsidy removal by paying over 200 persons monthly across the Local Government"

INFRASTRUCTURE: "My administration with a view to leaving lasting legacy, embarked on the following landmark projects, the construction of Ebu-Owa Modern Motor Park, 1 Kilometer Upper Efeizomor Road both completed and commissioned by the State Governor, construction of Otolokpo Community Market, construction of Executive office complex both completed and awaiting commissioning, procurement of transformers for Umunede and Alugba Community in Owa-Alero, Installation of Solar power at Ute-Okpu Government hospital, construction of Ute-Erumu Civic Center, improvement in the primary healthcare, regular desilting of drains and clearing of road shoulders, regular meeting with the party executives, traditional rulers and the residents of the Local Government including traders amongst others"

AWARDS: Speaking on the awards he said, "these awards so far received are a testament to our commitment to do more for the people. we shall not rest on our oars because we are here to work and surely we shall do more for the people of Ika North East Local Government Area."

While concluding, the Council boss noted that his administration's achievements wouldn't have been possible if the foundation of past administration had not been strong and committed to people oriented projects, especially the then administration of Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, the immediate past Governor of Delta State who was the first executive Chairman of Ika North East Local Government Area.

SUPPRESSED IKA NORTH-EAST STATE CONSTITUENCY II: HON. MONDAY ODIGWE COMMENDS INEC’S BOLD INITIATIVE

The Executive Chairman of Ika North-East Local Government Area, Hon. (Amb.) Monday Odigwe, has commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for commencing the technical processes toward the restoration of the suppressed State Assembly Constituency II in Ika North-East.

Hon. Odigwe gave the commendation while receiving the Delta State Resident Electoral Commissioner of INEC, Sir Etekamba Udo Umoren, alongside the representative of the INEC Chairman and Director of Operations at INEC Headquarters, Mr. Isah Magaji Gumi, and other senior officials during a courtesy visit to the newly constructed Executive Chamber at the Council Secretariat.

Speaking during the meeting, Hon. Odigwe described the development as a major step toward ensuring fair grassroots representation and accelerated development for the people of Ika North-East.

According to him:
“For us as a people, we cannot wait to have the second constituency. This will greatly impact positively on the development of Ika North-East. I am glad this history is being made during my tenure, and we will continue to support every process that will make this a reality before the 2027 General Elections.”

Earlier, the Delta State INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, Sir Etekamba Udo Umoren, explained that the visit was part of the Commission’s statewide engagement following the court order and stakeholders’ resolutions concerning the restoration of suppressed constituencies in Delta State.

He stated that the technical team was in Ika North-East to ensure proper adherence to INEC guidelines in determining ward boundaries necessary for the creation of the new State Constituency II.

Sir Umoren also applauded the remarkable infrastructural transformation under the administration of Hon. Monday Odigwe, especially the newly completed state-of-the-art Executive Complex named after the immediate past Governor of Delta State, His Excellency Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa.

“Mr. Chairman, I am indeed surprised at the transformation I have seen here today. It clearly shows you came prepared to serve the people of Ika North-East wholeheartedly. You have done well,” he said.

The meeting was attended by the Vice Chairman of the Council, Hon. Joy Egbulem; Leader of the Legislative Arm, Hon. Engr. Eric Dikenwosi; Secretary to the Local Government, Mr. Tunde Etumudon; Head of Personnel Management, Mrs. F.I. Ebite; and other top government officials.

OWA-ALERO IN CELEBRATION! 🎉
There was massive jubilation in Alugba Community, Owa-Alero, as the Executive Chairman of Ika North East LGA, Hon. Monday Odigwe, delivered a 500KVA transformer to the community. ⚡
This important project will greatly improve electricity supply, boost local businesses, enhance security, and uplift the standard of living for residents.
