The training moved from the classroom into hands-on practical sessions, with the afternoon of Day Two and the entirety of Day Three dedicated to practical demonstrations and supervised treatment of clients.

Participants had the opportunity to translate the knowledge gained from the theoretical sessions into practice, with trainers guiding them through the management and treatment of HPV-positive clients, strengthening their confidence and competence in delivering quality cervical cancer services.

This is where capacity building meets impact, equipping healthcare providers with practical skills that can translate into timely treatment, improved access to care and ultimately, more lives saved.

We are building a workforce capable of taking cervical cancer screening and treatment closer to women across Imo State.

Day Two of the Training of Trainers on Cervical Cancer Screening and Treatment in Imo State moved from theory to hands-on learning.

Participants spent the first half of the day deepening their understanding through the theoretical sessions, before transitioning to practical demonstrations and hands-on training on HPV-positive client management and treatment.

This practical component is critical to ensuring that healthcare providers are not only equipped with knowledge, but are confident and competent to translate that knowledge into quality service delivery.

We continue to take deliberate steps towards a cervical cancer-free Imo State.

Day 1 | Cervical Cancer Screening & Treatment Training

Day One of the three-day Training of Trainers on Cervical Cancer Screening & Treatment in Imo State commenced with healthcare professionals from facilities across the state, partners, and trainers coming together for introductions and alignment.

The Honourable Commissioner for Health delivered the opening remarks, setting the tone for a focused and impactful training.

The trainers then commenced the theoretical sessions, equipping participants with the knowledge and skills needed to strengthen cervical cancer screening and treatment services across Imo State.

Strengthening healthcare through partnership, accountability and collective action.

The Imo State Ministry of Health and Social Services held its Second Quarter State Oversight Committee (SOC) Meeting, bringing together government stakeholders, development partners and other key actors to review progress, identify gaps, share lessons and agree on practical actions to further strengthen healthcare delivery across the State.

The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of the Government and its partners to advancing quality, accessible and sustainable healthcare for the people of Imo State.

Imo Health Commissioner Champions Preventive Healthcare, Commends First Lady's Commitment to Women's Health at NDDC International Women's Day 2026

The Honourable Commissioner for Health and Social Services, Dr. Chioma Egu, yesterday joined other dignitaries at the NDDC International Women's Day 2026 celebration in Imo State, where women's health and empowerment took centre stage.

As part of the programme, the Imo State Ministry of Health, in collaboration with the Office of the Wife of the Governor and the GoodHope Women Flourish Initiative, provided free cervical cancer screening for eligible women, alongside counselling, HPV screening, visual inspection and referral services, reinforcing the state's commitment to early detection and prevention of cervical cancer.

Dr. Egu commended Her Excellency, Barr. (Mrs.) Chioma Uzodimma, for her unwavering dedication to improving the health and well-being of Imo women through impactful interventions. She also lauded His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON, the Executive Governor of Imo State for his visionary leadership in expanding access to quality healthcare across the state, reaffirming the Ministry's resolve to strengthen preventive healthcare and improve health outcomes for all Imo citizens.
