10 THINGS THAT HAVE HELPED ME AS A RETURNING BELIEVER 🤍
Starting all over again with God has taught me something: you don’t have to have everything figured out before you come back to Him.
I’m learning to rebuild my faith, rebuild my trust, become consistent in prayer, and simply learn to walk with God again.
These 10 things have been helping me:
1. I stopped waiting to “feel” spiritual before seeking God.
Some days I feel motivated, some days I don’t. I’m learning that my relationship with God cannot depend only on how I feel.
2. I started small.
Instead of overwhelming myself with trying to pray for hours or read many chapters every day, I started with what I could consistently do. Small steps still count.
3. I’m learning to pray honestly.
I don’t have to pretend before God. I can tell Him when I’m struggling, when I’m confused, when I’m grateful, and when I don’t even know what to say.
4. I’m learning to read the Bible for relationship, not just information.
I don’t want to simply finish chapters. I want to understand God, His character, His ways, and what He is teaching me.
5. I stopped allowing one bad day to become a bad week.
If I miss my prayer time or fall out of my routine, I’m learning not to condemn myself and give up completely. I simply return.
6. I’m learning to obey the little things.
Walking with God is not only about hearing big instructions. Sometimes it is simply forgiving, being patient, telling the truth, letting go, or doing what God has already told me to do.
7. I’m learning to trust God again.
Trust is being rebuilt. I’m learning that God is still God even when I don’t understand what He is doing or when things are not happening as quickly as I expected.
8. I’m becoming more intentional about what I allow into my spirit.
What I constantly watch, listen to, read, and surround myself with can affect my spiritual life. I’m learning to be more intentional about my environment.
9. I’m learning that consistency is more important than perfection.
I may not get everything right every day, but I don’t want to stop. I want to keep returning, keep praying, keep learning, keep growing.
10. I’m giving myself permission to start again.
This one has helped me the most. My past mistakes do not mean I cannot have a future with God. I may be starting again, but I am not starting without God.
I’m still learning.
I’m still growing.
I’m still rebuilding.
But this time, I want to walk with God—not just know about Him.
If you’re also starting all over again with God, remember: you can start again. 🤍
