LIFE-ND MANAGEMENT MEETS NALDA CZAR
The Management of Livelihood Improvement Family Enterprises in the Niger Delta (LIFE-ND) meets the Executive Secretary of the National Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA) today, February 9, 2021 at the Agency's head office in Abuja.
After the Executive Secretary, Hon. Paul Ikonne welcomed the LIFE-ND Executives to his office, Uchenna Rowland Onyeizu, PhD. who is the LIFE-ND Abia State Project Coordinator appreciated the Executive Secretary for his kind gesture, after which he introduced Engr Sanni Abiodun, LIFE-ND National Project Coordinator.
The NPC speaking, informed the Executive Secretary of key areas of possible collaboration/partnership such as land development for agricultural enterprises, leveraging on professional expertise of each agency, etc.
The NPC also informed the NALDA boss that LIFE-ND project plans to develop 36,000 hectares of agricultural lands within the Niger Delta region and this will be achieved by working with critical stakeholders like NALDA, which is part of LIFE-ND project development objectives.
In response, the Executive Secretary expressed his admiration for the LIFE-ND project and its achievements so far and reiterated his agency’s willingness to collaborate with organizations such as LIFE-ND in empowering rural youths and communities.
He further stated that NALDA is an agency under the Presidency and with reach to all the communities in Nigeria, and specifically noted that he would be interested in collaborating with LIFE-ND in areas such as animal husbandry/livestock, and fishery.
In walking his talk, he promised that after the discussion and upon presentation to his office areas of possible partnership by LIFE-ND, he will direct his Coordinators at the various Niger Delta States to expand this partnership opportunity with State Project Coordinators of LIFE-ND project.
Additionally, the NALDA czar mentioned that his agency was rounding off engagement and capacity building of 30,000 Extension Service Providers across the country and it’s a readily available human resource that LIFE-ND can take advantage of towards achieving LIFE-ND objectives.
The Executives of both agencies ended the meeting with the agreement to develop areas of partnership/collaboration for immediate implementation.
