Over the last couple of months while my team and I started building , although we have been on the project for 2 years as per market/product research and developing some MRD’s & PRD’s⁣

From the day we started building the platform till today that we are just 3 days away to launch, I have learned one major lesson...⁣

Building is better than talking. Doing is better than planing.⁣
⁣

Over the years I had this bright idea and I kept on talking to everyone about it and I was planing and planing and planing...⁣

Although the planing and research served me well but of what good is planing if you don’t take action?⁣

I have learned to not just build for today but for the future. To not just build for Emeka but for the World. ⁣

Strategic Lessons I have learned from the Planning of Square Business Summit.⁣⁣⁣

1) Invest in Social Capital.⁣⁣⁣

⁣⁣Be valuable to people. A lot of people keep asking me how I was able to have these great and phenomenal facilitators speaking at Square Business Summit. ⁣⁣⁣

⁣⁣The answer is, be a person of value and always serve those ahead of and around you. For everyone speaking at Square Business Summit I have in one way or the other served them. Be it volunteering at their events or just showing up when they need me to execute a task for them. ⁣⁣⁣

⁣⁣Just be someone of value. Learn how to invest in people’s emotional bank accounts. Before you ask, give. Before you drink, pour. Before you lead, serve.⁣⁣⁣

⁣⁣Ask yourself, “how much do I have in other people’s emotional bank account?”⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣Don’t try to withdraw from an account you haven’t deposited into first.⁣⁣⁣

2) ⁣⁣Traction should be the goal!⁣⁣⁣

⁣⁣Don’t focus on trends but traction. Most times we get carried away by how many people are sharing our event flyers on their stories, status or reposting. We get carried away by these things that we forget to actually track the results of these activities. ⁣⁣⁣

Are these activities converting to the results you want? What results are you looking out for? How are you capturing the details of the people engaging with your posts and onboard them to your own platform (e-mail list, Telegram Channel, web/mobile app, etc)?⁣⁣⁣

There is a huge difference between trending and having traction. Traction should be the goal. Trends can give you street credibility but traction is the conversion⁣

3) Grow organically but invest in advertisement.⁣⁣⁣

⁣⁣If you actually want to go far in this digital space. You can’t trust organic growth alone. Invest in advertising. Have a budget for adverts. The big brands run adverts and they are always on your face. You also have to do the same. Even if it’s $50/month, do it! Even Jesus had to invest in word of mouth advertising to make his message go viral. ⁣⁣⁣
