RIVERS MOURNS WITH BAYELSA OVER DEMISE OF EWHRUDJAKPO

On behalf of the Government and the people of Rivers State, I extend our deepest condolences to you, my brother Governor Douye Diri and all Bayelsa people over the news of the sudden passing of your Deputy Governor, His Excellency, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo. The sad news resonates across our borders, leaving us in a state of collective mourning alongside our brothers and sisters in Bayelsa State.

Senator Ewhrudjakpo was a man of exceptional caliber whose life was a masterclass in public service. Throughout his distinguished career, he navigated the complexities of governance with a rare blend of intellectual depth and profound humility. He was not merely a political figure; he was a steadfast anchor for your administration and a beacon of hope for his constituents.

His transition represents a monumental loss that echoes far beyond the walls of the Government House. To his family, he was a devoted pillar; to the state, he was a tireless advocate for progress. The vacuum left by his departure is a testament to the magnitude of the space he occupied in the hearts of those who knew him and the lives he touched through his dedication to duty.

May you, my brother Governor, find the inner resolve to lead your people through this dark hour. Our prayers remain with the bereaved family and the entire people of Bayelsa State. We pray that the soul of the departed finds eternal repose in the bosom of the Lord, and that those he left behind are granted the fortitude and grace to carry forward his noble legacy.

Signed:
Sir Siminalayi Fubara
Governor of Rivers State

Fubara Seeks Support for President Tinubu, Reaffirms Inclusive Development Agenda

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has urged Rivers people to support President Bola Tinubu, saying cooperation between the state and the federal government will accelerate development.

The governor made the appeal on Thursday during the commissioning of the 12km Egbeda–Omerelu Link Road connecting communities in Emohua and Ikwerre LGAs.

Fubara said his administration is ready to work with all pro-Tinubu groups and stakeholders committed to the President’s re-election, stressing that national stability is essential for sustainable growth.

He described the completed road as another fulfilled promise, recalling his earlier assurances to residents during project inaugurations last year.

The governor restated his commitment to inclusive development, pledging that both rural and urban communities will continue to benefit from people-focused projects across the state.

Fubara said his administration opted for open commissioning of projects to provide visible evidence of governance at work, especially at a time of political tension and misinformation.

He appealed for peace and unity, noting that progress cannot thrive in an atmosphere of conflict. Despite political pressures, he said he remains focused on delivering democratic dividends and improving the welfare of residents.

Governor Fubara assured that more projects will be unveiled in the coming months as part of efforts to build a prosperous and inclusive Rivers State.

Fubara Dismisses Rift Rumours, Rallies Rivers People Behind President Tinubu

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has dismissed claims of a rift between him and lawmakers from the state, calling such speculations baseless.

Speaking on Tuesday at the commissioning of the extended and dualised 28.4km Ahoada–Omoku Road, the governor said arrangements had long been made for a meeting with both federal and state lawmakers. He explained that the session was to be convened by former governor and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, elder statesman Ferdinand Alabraba, and other leaders.

He stated that suggestions that he avoided the lawmakers or declined proposals concerning them “are not true.”

Governor Fubara, who defected from the PDP to the APC on Monday, urged Rivers people to continue supporting President Bola Tinubu, stressing that his defection was not driven by personal ambition but by the need to secure peace and progress for the state.

He encouraged residents to stay united, avoid divisive politics, and stand firmly behind both the President and the state government.

Fubara reaffirmed his commitment to delivering democratic dividends, noting that the Ahoada–Omoku Road was a campaign promise he made while touring the area with former Governor Wike. He said its completion will ease movement, improve commerce, and enhance socio-economic activities across the corridor.

The governor also assured the people that more development projects are underway.

“We are now out, with our boots, hats, and gloves, moving from door to door in every LGA to preach without limitation the gospel of President Tinubu in Rivers State,” he declared, as he drummed up support for the President.
