ABIA STATE HOMELAND SECURITY AGENCY
REAFFIRMS COMMUNITY-BASED SECURITY ARCHITECTURE & OPERATIONAL REFORMS
The General Manager/CEO of the Abia State Homeland Security Agency, Colonel Chidi Kalu Ukoha (Rtd.), has reaffirmed the Agency’s unwavering commitment to strengthening security architecture across all 17 Local Government Areas of Abia State through a coordinated, intelligence-driven, and community-participatory approach.
Speaking during a live radio engagement on Open Parliament on Family Love 99.9 FM, the GM/CEO emphasized that modern security management is built on collaboration, discipline, and structured grassroots intelligence gathering, rather than isolated enforcement efforts.
He highlighted key operational reforms currently being implemented, including:
✔ Comprehensive validation and revalidation of vigilante operatives across communities
✔ Deployment of intelligence-led policing structures at the grassroots level
✔ Integration of modern surveillance technology, including drones and ICT-based call center systems
✔ Strengthening of inter-agency synergy with the Nigeria Police Force, Military, NDLEA, and Fire Service
✔ Reinforcement of discipline, accountability, and professional code of conduct among personnel
✔ Ongoing improvements in personnel welfare and motivation frameworks
The Agency further reiterated its role as a first responder coordination hub, ensuring rapid assessment and immediate escalation of security incidents to relevant authorities for timely intervention and containment.
Colonel Ukoha (Rtd.) stressed that technology remains an enabler—not a replacement for human intelligence, noting that ground operatives and community knowledge remain central to effective security operations.
Citizens were strongly encouraged to continue supporting security efforts by providing credible and timely intelligence, with firm assurance that all informants will be protected and their identities kept strictly confidential.
The Agency also reaffirmed its zero tolerance for misconduct, abuse of power, or deviation from established operational procedures, stating that discipline remains a core pillar of its effectiveness and credibility.
In line with its mandate, the Abia State Homeland Security Agency continues to evolve as a structured, law-backed security institution committed to safeguarding lives, property, and public order across the State.
“Security is a shared responsibility anchored on trust, discipline, and collective vigilance. Together, we build a safer Abia State.”
