PUBLIC DISCLAIMER AND NOTICE OF FRAUDULENT LIST CIRCULATING IN THE MEDIA

The attention of the *Nigeria Democratic Congress, Abia State Chapter* has been drawn to a *purported "State Working Committee List"* being circulated in the media space by *one Okey Ezeala and his team*.

We categorically state that *the said individuals are imposters*. By every verifiable fact and record, *they are not recognized, endorsed, or known by the National Working Committee of the Nigeria Democratic Congress*.

This fraudulent act is a deliberate attempt to deceive and defraud members of the public, especially as we approach the campaign season.

For the avoidance of doubt, the Nigeria Democratic Congress, Abia State Chapter, *does not recognize, and hereby disassociates itself entirely* from the following purported list and persons:

DISCLAIMER: PURPORTED MEETING BY ONE MR. OKEY EZEALA ON 1ST JUNE, 2026

The attention of the State Working Committee of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, Abia State Chapter, has been drawn to a dubious and fallacious meeting convened by one Mr. Okey Ezeala.

The said meeting, scheduled to hold on the 1st of June, 2026 at BANPAC, beside BCA Radio, Umuahia, has no connection whatsoever with the leadership of the Nigeria Democratic Congress in Abia State.

For the avoidance of doubt, the NDC Abia State Chapter hereby disassociates itself entirely from the activities of Mr. Okey Ezeala and any title or national position he ascribes to himself within the party, as such claims remain false and unauthorized.

Members of the public, party faithful, and stakeholders are hereby advised that anyone who attends the said meeting does so at his or her own risk. The party will not be held liable for any outcome arising therefrom.

The State Working Committee will duly communicate with all aspirants and party members through the appropriate and established channels of communication.

We urge all loyal members to remain calm, law-abiding, and disregard any information not issued from the official communication channels of the party in Abia State.

*COMMENCEMENT OF SCREENING EXERCISE FOR HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY ASPIRANTS IN ABIA STATE*

The Nigeria Democratic Congress, Abia State Chapter, wishes to inform the general public and all party stakeholders that the screening exercise for House of Assembly Aspirants officially commenced on *23rd May, 2026*.

The exercise is scheduled to run over a *three-day interval* at the State Secretariat, Umuahia. All aspirants who purchased forms for the *24 State Assembly Constituencies* are required to present themselves for screening with all necessary documents and requirements as outlined in the official screening guidelines.

Day 2 of the exercise, held yesterday *24th May, 2026*, recorded a successful turnout. Despite light showers of rain, aspirants turned out in large numbers to participate in the process.

The *Energetic and Dedicated State Chairman, Chief Ako Atulomah*, was on ground at the State Secretariat to personally monitor the progress of the screening and ensure the exercise was conducted in a transparent, orderly, and credible manner.

The leadership of the Nigeria Democratic Congress in Abia State reaffirms its commitment to an open, fair, and merit-based process that will produce candidates capable of delivering quality representation and service to the people of Abia State.

We appreciate the discipline, patience, and commitment displayed by all aspirants so far and urge those yet to be screened to comply with the schedule and guidelines.

NDC Unveils Screening Committees For House of Assembly Aspirants

As The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) begins the screening of aspirants for the various states Houses of Assembly today, the party’s leadership has announced the constitution of screening committees to oversee the process in the all the 36 states of the Federation.

In a memo jointly signed by the party’s National Chairman, Sen. Moses Cleopas Zuwoghe and National Secretary, Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu Esq., the NDC spelt out the guidelines for the screening exercise, which is to run from Saturday, May 23, 2026, through Monday May 25, 2026.

According to the communication, aspirants will be evaluated for character, capability and capacity to win election, among other criteria. NDC said that for any aspirant to be deemed worthy of purchasing the party’s nomination form, he or she must be a financially up to date member of the party, and must show evidence of contribution to the growth of the party.

Such aspirant, the memo said, apart from meeting the constitutional requirement for the office being sought, must also not have a criminal record or be under investigation or trial by any anti-graft agency.

The party also warned that any aspirant who is accompanied by thugs and miscreants to the venue of the screening stands the risk of being disqualified.
The screening committees are made up of three members each for every state, comprised of a Chairman, a Secretary and one Member.
