Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Defence Pays Courtesy Visit to Military Pensions Board
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Mr. Richard Pheelangwah, alongside members of his entourage, today paid a courtesy visit to the Military Pensions Board (MPB) in Abuja, where he was received by the Chairman of the Board, Air Vice Marshal Mikail Abdulraheem.
In his remarks, Mr. Pheelangwah expressed appreciation to the Chairman for the warm reception accorded to him and his team. He commended the Board for its effective administration of pension and gratuity benefits to military retirees, noting that the work of the Military Pensions Board remains fundamental to recognising the sacrifices and contributions of members of the Armed Forces.
The Permanent Secretary emphasized that military veterans represent valuable national assets whose services to the nation must always be acknowledged and held in high esteem. He further stressed the importance of maintaining close collaboration between the Ministry of Defence and the Military Pensions Board, adding that stronger institutional cooperation would help enhance policy development and service delivery in pension administration.
Mr. Pheelangwah also appreciated the professionalism and dedication demonstrated by the personnel of the Board in the discharge of their responsibilities, assuring that the Ministry of Defence remains committed to supporting initiatives and collaborations that will further strengthen the Board’s operations and improve services to military pensioners.
In his response, the Chairman of the Military Pensions Board thanked the Permanent Secretary for the visit and reaffirmed the Board’s readiness to continue working closely with the Ministry of Defence in advancing the welfare of military retirees and their Next-of-Kin.
At the end of the meeting, the Chairman alongside the Permanent Secretary and his entourage went on a tour of the Board’s facilities, showcasing key infrastructure and operational units that support the administration and management of military pensions.
