As everyday changes into night, so the vision of Hon Dennis Idahosa to turn Ovia into the envy of other political constituencies becomes much clearer.

The blue blood indigene of Ovia who doubles as a Member Representing the federal constituency of Ovia in the green chamber and Chairman of legislative compliance has avowed countless times without numbers that he will never sleep well under the comfort of his house while the average Ovia child struggles with basic education without a good school to keep his hopes alive.

In one of his outing, Hon Dennis Idahosa was quoted to have said *"I was born into the street of the 'haves not', as a child who lost his father at a very early stage, I knew what it was to have hopes built all over your loins yet not to see a means to keep them alive, this is why I am putting everything I have along the line to see that our children don't suffer that fate. As the ball of politics roll faster than imagined into the 2023 arena, it has been discovered that Hon Dennis Idahosa has developed an incurable addiction of spreading his tentacles of projects across the Ovia Federal Constituency like a wide fire that caught a spark of the harmattan season.

We have discovered a place of restlessness in Hon Dennis Idahosa until he touches every nooks and crannies of Ovia. We have also discovered a zeal to make sure that every average Ovia child access a quality education in order to be prepared ahead of life which has made him focused on delivery to the point that it has become an addiction.

Now that the race for the National Assembly seats has gradually began, various interests have been showing up.

Among them is the current House of Representatives Member representing Ovia Federal Constituency, Hon. Dennis ldahosa who is seeking re-election for the second term.

While it is a constitutional provision for any elected person to seek for re-election it is also incumbent on the electorates to access the performance of such elected office holder whether he or she has done well to be given another chance.

It is a statement of fact that, Hon. Dennis ldahosa has within a space of three years as Reps. Member been able to justify the massive votes given to him by his constituents with attraction of impactful capital projects to his constituency. A paradigm shift from the type of representation we used to have before.

He has proven himself as a man that can be trusted with his word.

One big question that we the electorates need to ask from those seeking our support for one position or the other is that, "What have you done to benefit the people with the position entrusted you?"

How can a legislator be as proactive as a sitting governor and we are still deliberating on the choice to follow in 2023? I don't know about you all, but to me, development is the only thing that keeps my heart merry.

Hon Dennis Idahosa (Denco): A conscientious Rebel from Ovia Federal Constituency.

Most probably, the caption of this piece is prima facie, an indictment. But, let's take a deep breath before consuming the contents of this literal banquet. A critical appraisal of the past political situation of Ovia Federal Constituency reveals that if it were a movie and it were to be replayed to refreshen the memories of those who witnessed it or to enlighten those who did not witness it, it certainly will not be a feast for the eyes. It will not be a feast for the eyes because it reeks of ineptitude supplanting ingenuity, royalty syndrome, few privileged individuals lording it over the poor masses, deception, oppression, corruption, ineffective representation and primordial selfishness. This is the Ovia of yester years. Contrariwise, with the emergence of Hon Dennis Idahosa as one of the political actors in the mainstream politics of Ovia Federal Constituency, there has been a paradigm shift from the old order to the new era which qualifies him as a conscientious rebel.

Let there be catharsis! Who is a conscientious rebel or a rebel with a cause? According to Mahatma Gandhi, conscientious rebels are reformers who refuse to wait until every other person is converted before they could plunge themselves deep into the troubled waters of the struggle for peace, equity and social justice. For Martin Luther king Jr; they are those who believe that nobody can ride on their backs unless they bend them. Hence, they not only refuse to bend their backs but also encourage others not to bend their own back for any tyrant to ride on. According to Rev Fr. John O. Odey, conscientious rebels are the true neighbours of the oppressed people who are ready to risk their position, their prestige and even their lives for the welfare of others. They are the people who consciously and courageously swim against the tide of deplorable societal currents no matter how dangerous the current might be in order to save the people and their Country from self destruction. They are people who ask questions, people who probe the Why and How of things as they happen when others either take such happenings for granted or often surrender to fatalism under the guise of being prudent, courteous and diplomatic.

With the above explicit and expanded definitions of a conscientious rebel, I do honestly hope that I am now on the same page with my readers. I am not a praise-singer. God forbid! Neither am I Hon Dennis Idahosa's media assistant. In fact, he doesn't even know me nor has he met with me. I have not also met him, though, I have met him by proxy through his projects. But, I have the irresistible urge to write about him, to extol his virtues because, in our World, it is a rarity to find a selfless and dedicated leader amidst selfish politicians. Hon Dennis Idahosa's infrastructural projects are littered and found almost in a Wards in Ovia Federal Constituency. His human-capital developmental projects are second to none. Ovia Federal Constituency had not had it so good before the rise of Hon Denco into political limelight. He has relatively achieved too much for his people, within too little period in the Green Chamber, yet, Hon Denco says, Ovia deserves more from me and I am ready to deliver an unprecedented dividends of Democracy to Ovia.

Hon Dennis Idahosa has ushered us into our golden era. He has made his life a counter friction to stop the fast grinding machine of oppression and underdevelopment in Ovia Federal Constituency. As far as I am concerned, the 2023 general elections will be determined by three things, viz - age, antecedents and the trajectory of the candidates. Interestingly, Hon Denco is youthful and vibrant, he has luminous antecedents and feasible as well as rosy trajectory. As a politician, Hon Dennis Idahosa is a succour provider. As a conscientious rebel, he has rebelled against the old order of systemic exclusion of youths in politics, diversion of public funds, personalisation of Constituency Allowances and what have you. Our prayer for a good leader has been answered in the person of Hon Denco. For me, if the voice of the people remains the voice of God, then, Hon Dennis Idahosa's victory in 2023 is assured. It is fait accompli.

As we approach 2023 poll, let us focus on the man that has the answers to so many questions that pose challenges to the development of Ovia Federal Constituency.

As we cross over to embrace the poll, let us channel all our focus to the man who will not pass a single pothole in Ovia without dropping by to ensure that it's fixed before finally going to his duty call.

As 2023 draws near, so the political drums of who goes back to represent the good people of Ovia in the green Chamber becomes of great interest.

This is not to state the obvious, but it's on record that Ovia has never had any legislature that went to the green chamber bringing back 68 projects as part of the dividends of democracy. Never!

It's also on record that none of Ovia sons who has represented her at the floor of the green chamber has taken keen interest in the educational well being of young ones like Hon. Dennis Idahosa.

I know that the terrain of politics is filled with political actors with different kind of political gimmicks just to fulfil their personal interest, but when we see it real we know. So far, Hon. Dennis Idahosa has proven to us that there's still yet One Ovia Son that we can trust with our mandate without looking back.

I’m glad to announce the completion of a Cassava Processing Plant in Iguobazuwa, Ovia Southwest LGA. The plant which is installed with all the necessary equipment, awaits inauguration any moment from now.

When operational, It will get its raw materials directly from over 200 farmers on a daily basis.

In additon, the processing plant cultivate hectares of Cassava to ensure uninterrupted supplies of raw materials.

In all this arrangement, massive jobs will be created, enhance the income of many farm families, in addition to its multiplier effect to the people of the locality.

It is worthy to note that Ovia Federal Constituency is the first beneficiary of this proposed Agro Processing plant in the South South Geo-political zone.

:A CASE STUDY OF OVIA FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY

The nitty-gritty of political representation today suggests that elected political office holders must roll up their sleeves and get to work - righting the wrongs accumulated by the bad past and cleaning the augean stables

The very essence of politicking is to liberate one's community from the iron grip of underdevelopment and set it on the path of prosperity and progress, so that community can at least be able to compete shoulder-to-shoulder with sister-societies

Idahosa's altruism and display of meritocracy so far, suggests the HoR Member knew from the beginning what he was called for so that today, it will take an herculean task to beat him in a free, square, credible and fair contest; in fact, today, it is almost impossible for DENCO to lose a genuine political race anywhere in Edo
