PDP UNVEILS NATIONAL CONVENTION PLANNING COMMITTEES, AKWA IBOM STATE LEADERS TAKE KEY ROLES

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today released the schedule of activities for its upcoming National Convention, following a successful recovery and unification of the party, backed by court rulings.

The National Working Committee (NWC) has appointed esteemed members from Akwa Ibom State to serve on key committees. They are:

- Rt. Hon. (Elder) Aniekan S. Akpan - Transport and Accommodation Committee
- Hon. Ibanga Brownson - Accreditation and Zoning Committee
- Engr. Edwin Ebiese - Venue Committee
- Hon. Emmanuel Mbong - Transport and Accommodation Committee
- Dr. Inemesit Itina - Medical Committee
- Barr. Ekpong Edemumoh - Entertainment Committee
- Prince Etim Isong - Media and Publicity Committee
- Hon. Ubong Effiong - Protocol Committee

The schedule of activities includes:

- Saturday, 21st March 2026: Inauguration of all Committees (8pm)
- Sunday, 22nd March 2026: Zoning Committee Meeting
- Monday, 23rd March 2026: EMERGENCY NEC MEETING (12noon, Life Camp, Abuja)
- Monday, 23rd - Wednesday, 25th March 2026: Sales of Nomination Forms (closes 3pm, 25th March)
- Thursday, 26th March 2026: Screening of Aspirants (10am-2pm) and Hearing of Appeals (closes 7pm)

As we move forward in our commitment to strengthening our great party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Nigeria, it is imperative that we prioritize the online registration process. The essence of this exercise is to compile the digital membership register in compliance with the Electoral Act 2026, which requires all political parties to submit the digital register of their members to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

I am writing to urge all State EXCO members, Chapter Chairmen, Ward EXCOs, and leaders at all levels to promptly undertake the online registration exercise and lead the campaign for all members around you to do the same. As leaders, your role is crucial in driving this initiative forward. We kindly request that you:

AKWA IBOM STATE PDP DISTANCES SELF FROM UNAUTHORIZED IBADAN NATIONAL CONVENTION, LAUDS INEC FOR BOYCOTTING INVALID CONVENTION

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Akwa Ibom State, led by Rt. Hon. (Elder) Aniekan Akpan, unequivocally dissociates itself from the ill-fated and unlawful Ibadan Convention, hailing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for its astute decision to boycott the invalid gathering. This commendable stance vindicates our commitment to upholding the rule of law and democratic principles.

As a party that espouses democratic values, it is imperative that every member of sound judgment renounce the charade perpetrated in Ibadan, where two subsisting court judgments were brazenly disregarded. Notably, the Federal High Court, Justice Omotosho, had explicitly halted the convention due to the party's leadership failure to adhere to its own rules, specifically the non-compliance with the requirement for designated officials to sign the notice of convention before submission to INEC.

We commend INEC for acknowledging the judgment of Justice Peter Lifu of the Federal High Court 9, Abuja, instituted by H.E. Sule Lamido, which barred the convention from holding on the 15th and 16th. This ruling underscores the importance of respecting the constitution and electoral laws, thereby exposing the Ibadan gathering as a mere social event devoid of legal validity.

It is perturbing that some individuals within our party, erstwhile champions of democracy, have chosen to flout the very principles we have long espoused. Nevertheless, we remain resolute in our determination to join forces with true democrats to reclaim our party from those seeking to destroy it for personal gain.

Holding a convention in blatant disregard of a valid court order, despite warnings from esteemed stakeholders, is a recipe for crisis and destruction. Consequently, any decisions and actions emanating from the purported convention are null and void, and will be treated as such.

We urge our party faithful to remain calm and focused, as the ill-advised convention is already sub judice at the Court of Appeal. Our faith in the judiciary remains unshaken, and we encourage all members to await the outcome of the legal process.

The emergence of the Acting National Chairman comes at a critical period in the history of the PDP, particularly as we reflect on our journey in the country's governance. This development not only underscores his leadership competency but also calls for revival, forgiveness, and reawakening of our resilience spirit within the Party.

PDP AKWA IBOM STATE CHAPTER MEETINGS: A RESOUNDING DEMONSTRATION OF UNSHAKABLE UNITY AND PURPOSE

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom State has successfully concluded a series of chapter meetings with chapter officials and ward chairmen across all 31 local government areas. The meetings, which were held today at the respective local government headquarters, were well-attended by chapter officers and ward chairmen, showcasing the party's strength.

Reading through the communiqués issued across the state, it is clear that the party members have reposed immense trust and confidence in the leadership of the Rt. Hon. Aniekan Akpan-led Executive Committee. Despite the varying language used in the communiqués, the underlying theme of unity, loyalty, and commitment to the party remained consistent throughout.

The meetings unanimously expressed total loyalty to the party and pledged continued support for the development of Akwa Ibom State. The party members reaffirmed their commitment to working together to promote good governance, unity, and development in the state.

While you attend a meeting of few aggrieved factional heads in Abuja, the real Akwa Ibom State PDP headed by Rt Hon Elder Aniekan Akpan, I mean the state exco are here at the PDP Secretariat, Atan Offort, Uyo, receiving returnees from the camp of the so called "caretaker committee" members.

The returnees are asking for forgiveness from the state chairman of the party, they said they were deceived, while some said they were added in error to the list of the so called caretaker committee.

IPAC REITERATES SUPPORT FOR ANIEKAN AKPAN-LED PDP EXCO IN AKWA IBOM STATE, CONDEMNS ATTEMPTS TO DESTABILIZE PARTY

In a resounding display of solidarity, the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in Akwa Ibom State paid a high-level courtesy visit to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) State Headquarters in Uyo, reaffirming its commitment to promoting and sustaining a free, fair, credible, transparent, acceptable, inclusive, and peaceful electoral environment in Nigeria.

The IPAC delegation, comprising 18 members representing different political parties, was led by the IPAC Chairperson in Akwa Ibom State, Mrs. Blessing Umo. In his introductory remarks, Elder Inemesit Akpan, Publicity Secretary of IPAC Akwa Ibom State, took time to introduce the members of the Inter-Party Advisory Council, highlighting their respective positions as chairmen of different political parties.

In her address, Mrs. Umo, IPAC Chairperson, unequivocally stated that IPAC recognizes the Rt. Hon. (Elder) Aniekan Akpan-led Executive Committee (EXCO) of PDP as the legitimate leadership of the party in Akwa Ibom State. She emphasized that the EXCO was duly elected for a four-year tenure and that detractors are merely seeking cheap recognition.

Mrs. Umo condemned attempts by certain individuals to destabilize the party, describing them as "political jobbers" who will ultimately fail in their endeavors. She pledged IPAC's total support to the Aniekan Akpan-led EXCO, promising availability for advice and defense at all times.

Responding to the IPAC delegation, PDP State Chairman Rt. Hon. (Elder) Aniekan Akpan thanked IPAC for the show of love and solidarity. He assured IPAC that the Akwa Ibom PDP is unshakable.

The PDP Chairman addressed the recent publication of an alleged caretaker committee list, which included a card-carrying member of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He presented evidence of the individual's APC membership, including the APC card number and name in the Ukanafun APC and questioned the legitimacy of the caretaker committee.

The solidarity visit was attended by the leadership and members of IPAC and PDP, including the Secretary, Publicity Secretary, and the three Senatorial Chairmen of PDP in Akwa Ibom State.

PEOPLES DEMOCRATIC PARTY IN AKWA IBOM STATE CONVENES CRUCIAL MEETINGS TO STRENGTHEN PARTY UNITY

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom State convened a series of meetings earlier today at the State Party Secretariat, bringing together key stakeholders to deliberate on the party's future and reaffirm commitment to unity and progress. The meetings, which were held in three categories, commenced with the State Executive Committee (EXCO) of the party, followed by a gathering of Chapter Chairmen from across the state. The meetings culminated in a joint session of the State Working Committee, led by the State Chairman, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Aniekan Akpan, and the Ward Chairmen, who met on a Local Government Area basis. The meetings were well-attended, with party officials from all 31 Local Government Areas in attendance. The deliberations were characterized by frank discussions, constructive suggestions, and a shared commitment to the party's ideals.

A significant outcome of the meetings was the unanimous passing of a vote of confidence in the Rt. Hon. (Elder) Aniekan Akpan-led EXCO of the PDP in Akwa Ibom State. In recognition of the Committee's dedication to the principles of democracy, good governance, and the welfare of our great Party, we pledge our unflinching loyalty and commitment to the success of the Aniekan Akpan led EXCO. We affirm that our support is genuine, voluntary, and in accordance with the provisions of the Party's Constitution and relevant laws. Please accept the assurances of our highest regards."

The meetings were a resounding success, demonstrating the party's commitment to internal democracy, unity, and progress.
