PDP AKWA IBOM STATE PRODUCES CONSENSUS GOVERNORSHIP CANDIDATE IN HISTORIC, RANCOR-FREE PRIMARIES
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Akwa Ibom State Chapter, today set a new benchmark for internal democracy as it successfully conducted its governorship primaries, producing Hon. Ibanga Akpan Brownson as the consensus candidate for the 2027 general elections.
In a process widely hailed as transparent, peaceful, and unifying, Hon. Brownson emerged through consensus and was duly presented at the PDP State Secretariat, Atan Offot, Uyo, as the party’s flagbearer for the 2027 governorship race.
The primaries were seamlessly monitored by the PDP Electoral Committee ably led by Dr. Arthur B. Ekwelem as Chairman. Other members of the Committee present were Barr. Clement Mue, Engr. Deola Adedokun, Mustapha Alimu, Chinwe L. Nnorom, Dr. Victor I. Epenyoung, and Ndubuisi Eneh.
Further strengthening the credibility of the exercise, the process was observed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Board of Trustees (BOT) of the PDP led by the highly respected Atuekong Emmanuel Ibiok.
Addressing party faithful after the presentation, the State Chairman of the PDP, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Aniekan Akpan, commended members for their exemplary conduct, maturity, and commitment to peace and unity. He described the rancor-free process as a clear testament to the party’s readiness to lead on a path of continued progress, cohesion, and inclusive development.
“The consensus that produced Hon. Ibanga Akpan Brownson reflects the collective will of our party and the confidence reposed in his capacity. Today, the PDP in Akwa Ibom State has spoken with one voice. We are united and focused” Elder Akpan stated.
The emergence of Hon. Brownson by consensus underscores the deep-rooted internal harmony within the PDP Akwa Ibom State and enjoys the support of all party faithful and stakeholders across the 31 Local Government Areas.
The PDP Akwa Ibom State Chapter reaffirms its commitment to the people of the state and assures citizens that the party remains the United and committed to the sustainable development, peace, and prosperity of Akwa Ibom State.
