NYSC SECRETARIAT AKWA IBOM HOLDS TWO STRATEGIC MEETINGS IN READINESS FOR 2026 BATCH C STREAM I ORIENTATION COURSE

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Akwa Ibom State Secretariat, on Thursday, 25 September 2026, held two strategic meetings with Heads of collaborating agencies, Orientation Course Committees and NYSC staff as part of preparations for the 2026 Batch C Stream I Orientation Course.

Welcoming participants, the State Coordinator, Mrs. Ngozi Rosemary Akuagbaogu, unveiled the Camp Director, Mr. Ogbonna Bartholomew and the Deputy Camp Director, Mr. Akren Lawrence; and Camp Commandant, Lt. K. O. Ogala. She emphasised unity, discipline, professionalism and effective collaboration among all stakeholders, while cautioning against the extortion of Corps Members.

The State Coordinator also briefed participants on activities lined up for the forthcoming Orientation Course and commended staff for their commitment during the previous camp. She urged them to sustain their dedication, responsibility and professionalism in the discharge of their duties.

The Camp Director, Mr. Ogbonna Bartholomew briefed participants on preparations for the Orientation Course and urged NYSC staff and other stakeholders to uphold the integrity and image of the Scheme, stressing the importance of teamwork.

The Camp Commandant, Lt. K. O. Ogala, urged all personnel and stakeholders to remain security-conscious throughout the Orientation Course. He stressed the need for everyone to promptly report suspicious activities, encouraging adherence to the principle, “See Something, Say Something.”

The meetings featured contributions from Heads of collaborating agencies, Orientation Course Committees and other NYSC staff, who reaffirmed their readiness to support the successful conduct of the Orientation Course.

The State Coordinator in her closing remarks appreciated all participants for their attendance and commitment, calling for continued teamwork, professionalism and dedication

Over 103 People Benefits From NYSC Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers (HIRD) In Akwa Ibom

Over 103 people today ( 25/9/26) benefitted from NYSC Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers (HIRD) at Urua Mbakara Market, Ikot Ekpene LGA, Ikot Ekpene , Akwa Ibom state.

The programme remains a deliberate agenda of the Service Corps to take free medical care to the rural areas. It holds quarterly in selected rural areas for the overall benefit of rural dwellers.

The State Coordinator , Mrs Ngozi Rosemary Akuagbaogu was represented by the Assistant Director, Community Development Service ( CDS) Mr Femi Festus.

According to the representative of the State Coordinator, the HIRD programme provides a platform for the scheme to deploy the professionalism of Corps Medical Personnel to cater for the health needs of rural communities who especially lack access to basic health facilities.

He emphasized that many rural communities in Akwa Ibom state have benefitted from the noble initiative.

The representative of the Paramount Ruler thanked the NYSC for such a laudable initiative and for selecting their community for the free medical care.

Rural dwellers of all categories numbering over 103 were attended to and administered medication.

Highlight of the programme was health talk /sensitization.

NYSC AKWA IBOM STRENGTHENS PARTNERSHIPS WITH ECC, ASTAL, NSCDC

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Akwa Ibom State, has strengthened its institutional partnerships with the Emergency Communications Centre (ECC), Uyo; Advanced Space Technology Applications Laboratory (ASTAL), Uyo and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Akwa Ibom State Command.

During separate courtesy visits to the State Coordinator, NYSC Akwa Ibom State, Mrs. Ngozi Rosemary Akuagbaogu, on Thursday, 24th September 2026, the ECC team was led by its Centre Manager, Mr. Victor Inyang, while ASTAL was represented by the Acting Head, Dr. Esther Hanson.

The Akwa Ibom State Commandant of NSCDC, Comdt. Geraldine Sixtus Abetianbe, also paid a familiarity visit to the State Coordinator at her office at the Federal Secretariat, Uyo.

The engagements focused on strengthening institutional and inter-agency relations, exploring areas of mutual cooperation, and promoting the welfare, safety and capacity development of Corps Members.

The State Coordinator appreciated the organisations for their interest in sustaining the collaboration with NYSC and assured them of the Scheme’s continued partnership in areas of mutual interest.

2026 BATCH 'C' STREAM ONE ORIENTATION COURSE COMMENCES SEPTEMBER 30

This is to inform the general public and especially the Prospective Corps Members that the 2026 Batch 'C' Stream One Orientation Course will commence on Wednesday 30th September, and end on Tuesday 20th October, 2026.

Registration of all Corps Members will start on Wednesday 30th September, and end on Friday 2nd October, 2026.

The Swearing-in Ceremony is to hold on Friday, 2nd October 2026.

The three week exercise is scheduled to take place in all the 36 States and the Federal Capital Territory.

The Director General of NYSC, Brigadier Olakunle Nafiu, wishes all the Prospective Corps Members and Course Officials safe trips to their respective Orientation Camps.

He also enjoins the Prospective Corps Members to avoid night travel and board vehicles at designated motor parks.

STATE COORDINATOR, NYSC AKWA IBOM PERFORMS SYMBOLIC PRESENTATION OF CERTIFICATE OF NATIONAL SERVICE TO CORPS MEMBERS.

The State Coordinator , NYSC Akwa Ibom state, Mrs Ngozi Rosemary Akuagbaogu today ( 3/9/26) symbolically presented Certificate of National Service ( CNS) to mark the commencement of distribution of certificates to 2025 Batch B, Stream 2 passing out corps members.

She wished them well in their next phase of life and charged them to remain good ambassadors of the scheme.

She also urged staff assigned to distribute Certificates of National Service in the various centres to ensure only qualified Corps members with relevant documents are issued CNS.
