Wanted: Boson Not From Edegbene Community, Don Banky Clears Air

An opinion leader in Edegbene Community, Seimbiri Kingdom, Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State, James Okunduopagha, popularly known as Don Banky, has dismissed the claim that Joseph Edisemi Boson is an indigene of Edegbene Community in Delta State.

Okunduopagha made the clarification while reacting to a wanted notice issued by the Nigerian Navy, which identified Boson as an indigene of Edegbene Community in Burutu Local Government Area.

In the notice signed by the Director of Naval Information, Navy Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, the Nigerian Navy declared Boson wanted over alleged crude oil theft and extortion activities.

The Navy also appealed to members of the public with useful information about his whereabouts to contact the nearest Nigerian Navy unit, police station or other security agency.

However, Don Banky said the identification of Boson as an indigene of Edegbene was incorrect, stressing that the community had already taken a public position on the matter.

According to him, the clarification was necessary to set the records straight before the Nigerian Navy and the general public.

“Joseph Edisemi Boson is not an indigene of Edegbene Community. The Nigerian Navy should not have identified him as an indigene of Edegbene community in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State,” Okunduopagha said.

He further explained that the community had publicly prior to this time addressed the identity of Joseph Edesemi Boson during its General Community Meeting held on April 7, 2026.

“This is not a position I am taking personally or for the first time. Edegbene Community has already taken a position during our General Community Meeting of April 7, 2026. We are only restating that position to ensure that the records are clear,” he said.

Okunduopagha urged the Nigerian Navy and other security agencies to take note of the community's position and ensure that future references to Boson do not wrongly associate him with Edegbene.

“We want to make it clear that whatever allegations are being made against Joseph Boson should not be used to wrongly portray him as an indigene of Edegbene Community. He is not from our community, and the records should reflect that,” he added.

The clarification followed the Nigerian Navy's public notice declaring Joseph Edisemi Bosun wanted over alleged crude oil theft and extortion activities.

The Navy stated that Boson's last known address was around Leadwort Hotel, Obirikwere, off Airport Road, near the Obirikwere Flyover in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, and appealed to anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact security agencies.

Nigerian influencer Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has called out MTN after receiving an unsolicited SMS on his NIN-linked MTN number promøting the Dangote Refinery IPO.

The IPO reportedly launched on September 14, 2026, offering 4.1 billion shares at ₦525 each, with a minimum purchase of 10 shares for ₦5,250.

VeryDarkMan 🗣️: “MTN, my lawyers are going to be writing to you guys. As my network provider, I will need you to explain how my private line is being used by Dangote. Why am I getting an ád from Dangote? I didn’t consent to them using my private line to do an ad for Dangote. You need to explain or we’re going to court.”

He demanded an explanation over what he described as the unauthorised use of his data, citing Nigeria’s Data Protection Act 2023 and threateñing lêgal actiøn.

VeryDarkMan also questioned the nature of the Dangote IPO and raised concerns about whether it could be a Ponzi scheme.

Now the question is, whether MTN will respond to his complaint and explain how his number ended up receiving the advert. 🤔
