PRESS RELEASE

AIG PATRICK A. ATAYERO DRIVING A NEW ERA OF EXCELLENCE IN NIGERIA POLICE ACADEMY

At the Nigeria Police Academy (P***C), Wudil, Kano, a quiet but meaningful transformation is taking place, one that reflects a renewed commitment to quality, professionalism, and the future of policing in Nigeria. At the centre of this progress is the 24th Commandant, Patrick A. Ateyero, MSc(UK), MBA(USA), psc, mspsp.

Recognizing that great officers are shaped by great teachers, AIG Ateyero recently introduced an induction course designed to prepare Directing Staff for lecturing roles in Police Professional Courses. More than just a routine training, the programme focuses on how people learn, how knowledge is retained, and how lessons can be delivered in ways that truly make an impact.

Through sessions on learning processes, memory, lesson planning, and curriculum development, participants were equipped not just with knowledge, but with the tools to inspire and effectively train the next generation of police officers. It’s a practical step toward raising the standard of instruction and ensuring cadets receive training that matches modern policing demands.

The initiative, carried out by the Department of Police Professional Courses, reflects AIG Ateyero’s belief that improving education within the force is key to building a more professional and responsive police service. His leadership continues to emphasize not only discipline, but also intellectual growth and innovation.

As part of the programme, ten serving police officers with the right qualifications were selected and integrated as lecturers in Police Professional Studies. This move strengthens continuity and ensures that valuable experience within the force is passed on in a structured and consistent way.

For P***C, this is more than a new course, it’s a step toward building a culture of excellence. And for the cadets who will pass through its halls, it means learning from instructors who are better prepared, more confident, and fully equipped to shape the future of policing in Nigeria.
