In another demonstration of strategic political alignment, today, I received my Brother, Rt Hon. Chimaobi Atu into the as he formalizes his defection to the Progressives Family.

Hon. Chimaobi'a defection further accentuates my position that keying into the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, is not just a political gesture as touted, but a patriotic imperative of which the Igbo cannot be left out.

I commend my brother for his strong sense of conviction and I have no doubt that together with other members of the South East APC- caucus in the House, we shall leverage this alignment to further the interests of our Constituents and Ndi Igbo at lage.

I heartily welcome my Brother- Rt. Hon. Professor Paul Sunday Nnamchi, into the ruling All Progressives Congress as he today, officially joined the Progressives-fold at plenary, in our shared commitment to aligning our constituencies and State at large to the center of governance, under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR .

As I had stated in the past, Enugu State is too important to the South East, and Ndi Igbo at large to be outside the circumference of power, and it behoves its young and emerging leaders to demonstrate this awareness through conscious and strategic political choices.

I commend Hon. Nnamchi for his demonstrated sense of conviction and I look forward to teeming up with him in the growing Enugu State- House of Reps caucus and the South East at large, in the actualization of our commitments to our Constituencies and the Iarger Igbo Nation.

2 YEARS OF A VISION IN MOTION – BEING STATEMENT OF RT. HON. BARR. SUNDAY CYRIACUS UMEHA ON THE OCCASION OF 2ND ANNIVERSARY IN OFFICE

My Dear Constituents,

It is my honour and privilege to address you on this special occasion of our 2nd anniversary in office. You may recall that on this day, exactly two years ago, I took the oath of office as a Member of the 10th House of Representatives, with dignity, pride and hope. It was the culmination of the popular mandate that was given to me at the polls, on 25th of February, 2023 – a proud and historic moment for our people.

When I took the decision to temporarily step-aside from private law practice, it was with the conviction that effective leadership remains the most sustainable way of making impact in the life of people and the society at large. Indeed, this thinking and worldview would come to shape our Legislative Agenda which remains the compass that has guided my legislative endeavors in the past two years.

Whilst the primary responsibility of the law maker in a presidential system of government as ours, is to make laws and put the executive in check, the reality of our politics and the yawning gap of governance has also meant that the law maker must also step outside the chambers of parliament to make socio-economic interventions in his constituency to complement those of the executive.

To the glory of God, we have undertaken several projects across the thematic areas of our Legislative Agenda over the course of the past two years. From education to healthcare; from energy and social infrastructure to youth and women empowerment and so on and so forth, we have remained dedicated and determined in spite of limitation to deliver on our promise of transformative leadership.

Some of these interventions include but are not limited to:
Provision of Solar-Powered street lights in almost all the wards in Ezeagu and Udi; Provision of Solar-Powered Borehole in Aguoba Obeleagu Umana; Provision of Solar-Powered Borehole in Umuase Ngwo Asaa; Provision of Solar-Powered Borehole in Nsude; Provision of Solar-Powered Borehole in Udi/Agbudu (ongoing); Provision of Solar-Powered Borehole in Obioma (ongoing), Construction of 6 Classroom Block at imezi Olo; Rehabilitation of Rural Roads in Various communities in Ezeagu-Udi Federal Constituency; Training of Youths and Women in Biotechnology For Food Production; Distribution of Fertilizers to Various Wards in Ezeagu-Udi Federal Constituency; Security Summit to boost security in the entire constituency; Renovation of Classroom Blocks in Amansiodo; Payment of Jamb registration for over 500 indigent students in the last 2 years; Quiz competition for public secondary schools across Ezeagu-Udi Federal Constituency; Award of scholarship to 104 indigent students ; Medical Outreach at Umulumgbe; Agbaja Unity Cup football tournament; Facilitation of employment of many constituents; sponsorship of several Bills and Motions on the Floor of the House of Representatives, etc.

Umu nnem, whilst the above may pass for the scorecard of the last two years, I am convinced that the next two years will provide a veritable platform to consolidate on these efforts and take our transformative strides across the entire length and breadth of our constituency.
As you all now know, in response to the intractable leadership crisis that rocked the Labour Party under whose platform I was voted into office; with your support, I defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and has since formalized the process of my defection. As I said In my Defection-Speech, the decision to move was not personal; rather it was consequential in the face of the realities that confronted us. More importantly however, I welcome us to take comfort in the fact that it affords us an opportunity to key-into the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR and also align our people and Enugu State at large, to the center of governance.

My dear Friends, as I close these remarks, It will be remiss of me not to thank you for your loyalty, support and prayers over these years. They remain the source of my courage and the fuel that keeps me going. In return, I rededicate myself to delivering our Legislative Agenda until its transformative fruits reach the doorstep of every single member of our beloved constituency.

Once again, I thank you for keeping the faith and together, let us anticipate the good that tomorrow will surely bring.

God Bless Ezeagu/Udi Federal Constituency
God Bless Enugu State
God Bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

DEMOCRACY-DAY MESSAGE BY RT. HON. BARR. SUNDAY CYRIACUS UMEHA

Umunnem Ndi Ezeagu Na Udi,

I felicitate with us and Nigerians at large on the auspicious occasion of .

Today, we celebrate 26 years of an unbroken democratic journey - a testament to our growing international repute as Africa’s most robust democracy. It is a day that we commemorate the labours of our national heroes through whose sacrifices the government of the people, by the people and for the people, have cove to become a staple of our National life. Whilst we honour this historic feat, we also reflect on the outcomes of the experience of the past 26 years even as we project and anticipate the future that lie ahead with great sense of patriotism, determination and purpose.

Today’s event, aptly intersects with my midterm as your elected representative at the 10th National Assembly over the course of which period I have remained committed and unwavering in ensuring that the dividends of democracy cascade to every town, community and village across our Constituency within the limits of my capacity.

From improvement of our road infrastructure across various communities to the investment in the education of our youths through various scholarship schemes; from investment in the healthcare of women and children as well as the aged through numerous health outreaches to the improvement in our public utilities such as streetlights and transformers to lighten up our communities and other indeterminate social/humanitarian interventions through the Umeha Care and Empowerment Foundation, we have remained focused on delivering our Bold Legislative Agenda. Whilst we take pride in modest these efforts, we are hopeful and excited about the prospects of tomorrow.

My Dear Constituents, our democratic journey has not been without its challenges. Views remain sharply divided as to whether democracy, as a system of government, has delivered its promises to the Nigerian people. Today’s occasion is, however, not one to dwell much in such academic debates. Suffice to say that the challenges notwithstanding, we have made significant progress as a people and a Nation from where we were, 26 years ago, when this new banner of democracy was donned on the face of our Nation. In spite of our shared problems of nationhood, let us be optimistic that we shall emerge from them a truly united and formidable nation under God with a divine mandate to save the Black race.

It is in this wise, that I must use this opportunity to salute His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR – a man of great vision and conviction, a democrat extraordinaire for championing under the first two years of his presidency, the Bold Reforms upon which the success of tomorrow may come to rest, through the Renewed Hope Agenda. Under his masterful leadership, we have seen a decisive shift in governance – anchored on restoring trust, rebuilding institutions, and reigniting faith in the promise of Nigeria. It is altogether reassuring that these interventions are already yielding fruits at the macro level as corroborated by highly rated global financial and rating institutions such as the IMF, World Bank, etc.

From these early wins, we can draw hope that the dividends may soon begin to trickle in at the micro level where it’ll be felt in the dining tables of the Nation.

My Dear Constituents, as I conclude these remarks, I must not fail to remind us that Nation Building is not the exclusive preserve of elected representatives; it is rather, a collective effort of a people to enthrone and build a nation of shared aspiration. Thus, every Nigerian – young or old, male or female, rich or poor, has a role to play in shaping the future we aspire to.

May this renew and inspire us to this commitment as we continue to build a Nation that our forebears will be proud of.

God bless Ezeagu/Udi Federal Constituency
God bless State
God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

THE 'GENTLEMAN' GOES HOME: MIKE EJEAGHA (4TH APRIL, 1930 - 6TH JUNE 2025)

On behalf of the Good People of Ezeagu-Udi Federal Constituency, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the Mike Ejeagha family, of Imezi Owa, Ezeagu Local Government Area of Enugu State, on the glorious passing of their patriarch- Mike Ejeagha who drew the curtains to a very illustrious and fulfilling life, yesterday, 6th June 2025.

The Gentleman, as he would come to be known, was not just a multi talented musician/guitarist, he was also a cultural icon who shaped Highlife music in Nigeria with his very unique craft. He was undoubtedly a member of that iconic generation of Igbo Highlife musicians that had Chief Stephen Osita Osadebe, Chief Oliver Sunday Akanite (Oliver De Coque), Chief Morocco Maduka, to name a few, as notable members. His death, without a question, draws the curtain to that illustrious generation of Igbo Highlife musicians who deployed music to soothe the wounds of a people that had just emerged from the Civil War and ultimately internationalized their craft.

It is rather fortuitous that his greatness would come to be relived amongst a generation of Nigerians born at the turn of the millennium, last year, through the work of a young Nigerian Comedian and creator - 'Brain Jotter' on the back of which one of his arguably, best record 'Gwo Gwo Gwo Gwo' came to serenade the Nation. It was an auspicious occasion in the life of the music meastro as he witnessed in his last years, the sheer brilliance of his craft.

His death certainly signals the end of an era that may never be replicated. Whilst he might have passed in the flesh, his large body of work would forever immortalize his legend as one of the best men to have done it.

Once again, I extend my heartfelt condolences to his immediate and extended families as well as the Government and People of Enugu State on the passing of a great son and cultural symbol.

May his gentle soul rest in peace and may his memory be a blessing to us.

Signed.

RT. HON. BARR. SUNDAY CYRIACUS UMEHA FELICITATES MUSLIMS ON THE OCCASION OF EID AL-ADHA

I felicitate the Muslim Ummah on the occasion of . The feast of Al-Adha symbolizes the imperatives of total submission to the Will of God as exemplified in the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his cherished son - Ismail in total obedience to Allah's command. The religious festival undoubtedly speaks to the virtues of sacrifice, faith, love, obedience and sacrifice even in spite of one's self.

In the spirit of the season, I call on the Muslim ummah to rededicate themselves to these virtues both in their religious lives and social interaction with their communities at large.

Whilst the occasion calls for celebration, it also calls for a moment of sobriety and reflection through prayer for the Nation as it confronts the challenges of nationhood in the forms of economic hardship, insecurity and other social vices. I also urge you to spare a moment of prayer for the victims of flash floods in Niger State and the deadly accident which killed over 21 athletes in Niger State.

On behalf of myself and the Good People of Ezeagu-Udi Federal Constituency, I wish you a celebratory and memorable

Barka da Sallah

Queen Adaora’s victory is a testament to the competitive spirit of the people of Ezeagu and their all-round socio-cultural make up which easily distinguishes them amongst their peers. RT. HON. BARR. SUNDARY CYRIACUS UMEHA AWARDS IMMEDIATE SCHOLARSHIP TO SURVIVOR KIDNAPPED GIRL-MISS CHIMAKA NWORIE; OFFERS FINANCIAL SUPPORT FOR MEDICAL CARE AND PSYCHOLOGICAL REHABILITATION

Rt. Hon. Barr. Sunday Cyriacus Umeha, Member Representing Ezeagu/Udi Federal Constituency in the 10th National Assembly has awarded immediate scholarship to survivor kidnapped-girl – Miss Chiamaka Nworie, from basic primary six, up to university level. Hon. Umeha also donated the sum of N 200,000 (Two Hundred Thousand Naira) to the family of the miraculous girl to cater for her medical and psychological care after the trauma of her ordeal in the hands of the now apprehended ritual killer and kidnapper – Obi Levi Obieze.

It may be recalled that last week, youths of Ndiagu Umumba community in Ezeagu Local Council of Enugu State got a tip-off from the cries of the kidnapped Chiamaka Nworie, which led them to where she was being held by her kidnappers – an operation that ultimately led to the arrest of the kidnapping syndicate and their leader who are now awaiting their date with justice.

Hon. Umeha made the humanitarian intervention on 30th May, 2025 through the Umeha-Care Foundation – a vehicle which has been deployed effectively in attending to the humanitarian needs of disadvantaged persons and groups across Ezeagu-Udi Federal Constituency.

Speaking at the official presentation, Hon. Ozor Obinna OzorAnonde - the Special Assistant to Hon. Umeha on culture, described 13-year-old Chiamaka as a destiny-child through whom God has used to liberate people of the community and Ndi Enugu at large, from falling potential victims to the kidnapping-ring. He described the circumstances of her rescue as miraculous; an indication that she was destined for greatness. He therefore expressed the hope and optimism that the scholarship would afford her the opportunity to pursue her destiny and fulfill her potentials.
During the presentation, Hon. Ozor Obinna also indicated Hon. Umeha’s pledge to look into the deplorable condition of the road network in that part of the community which will help in reducing kidnapping and criminality in the area at large.
