Dear good people and ever-promising farmers of Hildi 🌱🌧️
It is another rainy season again, fellow farmers.
Ensure you plant crops that will give you good profit and high yield with little fertilizer, especially now that the cost of fertilizer is on the high side.
For some of us who may not have enough money to buy fertilizer, here is an advice and farming tip that worked for me and many others in past seasons:
🌽 Cut a small portion of your corn farmland and quickly plant okra. Within one and a half to two months (45–60 days), the okra will start producing. You can then sell the okra and use the money to buy affordable fertilizer and cultivate your corn farm properly.
Later on, you can still plant beans on the same portion where you earlier planted the okra — and that’s a big goal.
Even if you do not sell the okra fresh, you can slice and dry it. Ask around how much dried okra costs these days 😊 Whichever way, it is a big win.
🌱 Plant Egusi (melon) in the same manner. Even behind your houses, you can cultivate Egusi, and livestock hardly destroy it because it is not one of their favorite crops.
🥜 Ensure you also plant suya beans and, most importantly, groundnut, because their demand is always very high in the market.
Smart farming brings profit. Little wisdom in farming can change many lives.
