Speaker Abbas Honoured in Ikorodu as Community Celebrates Excellence

Ikorodu came alive in a grand celebration of heritage, achievement and community pride as the Accountant General of the Federation was honoured for excellence, integrity and years of dedicated national service. 

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, joined the ceremony as Guest of Honour, praising Ikorodu’s rich culture and its enduring commitment to recognising merit.

In a historic moment, the Speaker was installed as the Otunba Adekílúmọ of Ikorodu Kingdom, a title that reflects leadership, service and his growing bond with the people.

The community also celebrated Distinguished Senator Abdul Aziz Abubakar Yari, who was installed as the Baba Isale of Ikorodu Kingdom, adding further prestige to the day.

Ikorodu has once again shown that a community that honours its own strengthens the values that build nations.

Fatima Abbas Tajudeen Empowers 400 Zaria Youths with Training and Startup Capital

Hajiya Fatima Abbas Tajudeen (Tauraruwan Iyan Zazzau), the first Lady to the Speaker House of Representatives, has taken a bold step in youth empowerment by organizing a two-day intensive training program for 400 young people in Zaria, Kaduna State.

The initiative, held in partnership with the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) at Barewa College, Zaria, focused on Cosmetology, Entrepreneurship, and Digital Marketing, the program was designed to equip participants with practical skills that will open up income-generating opportunities and promote self-reliance.

Speaking at the event, Hajiya Fatima emphasized the importance of empowering young people with knowledge and resources to enable them to contribute meaningfully to society.

In a remarkable gesture of support, she also provided startup capital to all beneficiaries, giving them the means to immediately apply their new skills and start their own businesses.

The program received commendation from community leaders, participants, and government officials, who praised Hajiya Fatima’s commitment to youth development and economic empowerment.

This initiative is expected to not only reduce unemployment in Zaria but also inspire similar projects across Nigeria, as it demonstrates the transformative power of combining training with financial support.
