πŸ“’ Dutch Parliament votes in favor of ending subsidies for bullfighting industry!

A motion by the Party for the Animals to stop financing bullfights has been accepted. πŸ‘

The Dutch Parliament has accepted a motion by the Party for the Animals to stop the flow of taxpayer money to the bullfighting industry in Spain, Portugal, and France.

Every year, over 200 million euros worth of EU agricultural subsidies indirectly support bullfighting in these European countries. The motion by the Party for the Animals sends a strong political signal that the Netherlands wants these subsidies to be ended‼️

πŸŽ‰Great news! πŸŽ‰

European Parliament approves law against illegal puppy and kitten trade - Negotiations by the Party for the Animals led to major support for the new law. πŸ’ͺ

After tireless negotiations by the Party for the Animals, the European Parliament adopted a new law to combat the illegal trade in puppies🐢 and kittens🐱 within the EU.

The law, approved by a large majority, proposes several new rules for breeders and traders to combat the large-scale illegal trade in puppies and kittens across the EU. It also aims to protect cats and dogs against exploitation and abuse.πŸ‘

The law obligates all cats and dogs that are offered for adoption to be chipped from 2030 onward. It also obligates breeders and traders to register and comply with minimum welfare requirements and prohibits breeding for extreme traits.

The Party for the Animals has fought a long time against illegal trade in cats and dogs within the EU. This law is an important first step in tackling this cruel industry and protecting the well-being of cats and dogs in the EU! 🫢

πŸ‘‰ Prohibition against seal hunting in the EU under threat - Party for the Animals fights to keep seal protections in place. πŸ™

The sale of products originating from hunting seals has been prohibited in the EU since 2009. However, the European Parliament’s Committee on Fisheries is attempting to question this prohibition following critiques from Danish and Swedish fishers, who want more seal hunting and seal products. 😲

In 2024, the European Commission also tried to question the prohibition on seal products. However, 94% of Europeans spoke out against the sale of seal products! πŸ‘

The Party for the Animals is strongly against seal hunting and has submitted motions to underline the importance of prohibiting seal products.

In response, the European Parliament recognized that almost all European citizens are against seal hunting. However, the Parliament neglected to restate its support for the ban on seal products.

We would have preferred to see the European Parliament take a stronger stance against seal hunting. The Party for the Animals will continue to fight for the safety and protection of seals! 🦭🦭🦭

β€œThe ban on seal products is one of the most important animal protection laws in the EU, and that should stay this way. It cannot be possible that there will be fur skins of clubbed seals in our shops again!” Hazekamp.
