🚨A money laundering operation laundering millions of drug trafficking proceeds was dismantled by Belgian and French authorities.

The joint investigation team, coordinated by Eurojust, executed searches in Belgium and detained 8 suspects in Belgium and France. Over EUR 8 million was seized.

💸 Illicit proceeds from drug trafficking were allegedly transferred to Belgium by money collectors after which it would be laundered through a business in Brussels.

⚖️ The Environmental Crime Directive introduces a strengthened legal framework for preventing, detecting, investigating, prosecuting and adjudicating environmental offences across the EU.

📈 In 2025, Eurojust handled 68 environmental crime cases, a 17% increase compared with the previous year.

⚖️ Ms Emilia Ioana Lionte has extensive experience as a prosecutor both at national and international levels and will be instrumental in enabling cooperation between Romanian authorities and their international partners on cross-border investigations.

⚠️ In response to the growing threat posed by the malicious use of drones across Europe, Eurojust organised a two-day expert meeting on 2 and 3 June 2026.

🤝 Judicial authorities from EU Member States and partner third countries exchanged operational experience and best practices on dealing with drone-related incidents and threats.

🌍 Discussions also focused on enhancing interagency and international cooperation to ensure a coordinated approach involving all relevant stakeholders.
