🚨 Earlier this month, Eurojust supported an operation targeting a ransomware group hashtag linked to nearly 1 000 attacks worldwide.

⚠️ Allegedly run by teenagers, the group stole sensitive data & threatened to publish it unless ransoms were paid.

Eurojust coordinated judicial authorities from Belgium, Finland, Germany, Greece, Romania, Spain, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States. All nine authorities worked together to identify suspects, locate the group’s infrastructure and follow financial trails.

📘 Discover the strengthened EU legal framework for combatting corruption more effectively

⚖️ Eurojust’s Note on Directive (EU) 2026/1021 gives practitioners an overview of the Directive’s main features and key novelties as Member States prepare to transpose it into national law.

🔎 The Directive strengthens and harmonises the EU framework by introducing a harmonised set of corruption offences based on unified definitions, stronger sanctions, longer limitation periods and enhanced investigative tools.

🤝 It also places greater emphasis on prevention, including national anti-corruption strategies, adequately resourced anti-corruption bodies and protection for persons reporting corruption or assisting investigations.

⚖️ The European Judicial Network on Organised Crime ( ) held its fourth Plenary Meeting on 14–15 October under the auspices of the Irish Presidency of the Council.

👥 Members exchanged operational experience and prosecutorial approaches on key challenges, including the ‘Ndrangheta, criminal infiltration of legitimate businesses, overland drug trafficking routes and timely information-sharing.

🤝 Through practical workshops, case discussions and peer learning, the meeting reinforced the importance of cross-border cooperation in addressing organised crime.

🚨 Company suspected of bribery and EUR 1 million+ fraud involving services supplied to NATO vessels taken down

⚖️ With the active coordination of Eurojust and collaboration with the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA), authorities carried out arrests in Norway and searches in Norway, Romania and Germany as part of a cross-border investigation.

💶 The investigation concerns a company and its subcontractors suspected of submitting fraudulent invoices for services supplied to NATO military vessels making port visits in North-Western Europe. Estimated losses to NATO member countries exceed EUR 1 million, with the exact amount still under investigation.

🔎 The allegations also include bribery of foreign public officials through an intermediary in return for favoured support with contractual dealings with the NSPA.

📲 Strengthening access to electronic evidence across borders

⚖️ Prosecutors and competent authorities from across the Western Balkans joined a and workshop in Montenegro on cross-border access to electronic evidence held by service providers.

🔎 Discussions covered the legal and operational challenges of accessing electronic evidence, from identifying and preserving data to requesting its disclosure through appropriate cooperation channels.

🤝 The workshop combined expert presentations, practical discussions and case-based exercises, and introduced participants to the SIRIUS Platform.
