De Europese Unie moet meer doen om het Internationaal Strafhof te beschermen tegen Amerikaanse sancties, zeggen advocatenorganisaties. ‘Niet alleen het hof wordt hierdoor bedreigd, maar ook de Europese soevereiniteit.’

Nederland huisvest het Internationaal Strafhof (ICC) en het Internationaal Gerechtshof (ICJ). Dat maakt ons land in theorie een voorvechter van het internationaal recht. In de praktijk draagt onze regering volgens hoogleraar en juriste Marieke De Hoon eerder bij aan de uitholling ervan.

🎉 Vandaag bestaan we 1 jaar! 🎉

Wat een bijzonder eerste jaar is het geweest. In slechts twaalf maanden hebben we samen al mooie stappen gezet. We deden mee aan de Tweede Kamerverkiezingen in twee kieskringen met Danielle Tulp MSc als lijsttrekker en behaalden bij de gemeenteraadsverkiezingen onze eerste zetel met lijsstrekker Remy Joyce Leurs-Opatja. Een mijlpaal waar we ontzettend trots op zijn!

Maar dit is nog maar het begin. Dankzij de inzet van onze leden, vrijwilligers, supporters en iedereen die in onze missie gelooft, blijven we bouwen aan een sterke toekomst.

In slechts één jaar hebben we laten zien dat verandering begint bij mensen die durven op te staan en hebben een stevige basis gelegd voor de toekomst.

Maar we zijn nog lang niet klaar.

Dit is pas het begin van een beweging die zich niet laat tegenhouden. We blijven ons uitspreken, blijven ons inzetten en blijven strijden voor een eerlijker, sterker en rechtvaardiger Nederland.

💪 Op naar de Provinciale Statenverkiezingen! Samen gaan we voor de volgende stap.

Bedankt aan iedereen die het afgelopen jaar onderdeel is geweest van deze reis. Op naar nog veel meer successen! 🚀

Today marks International Criminal Justice Day.

The International Criminal Court remains the cornerstone of the international criminal justice system, delivering accountability for the most serious crimes of concern to the international community and upholding the rights and dignity of victims.

The European Union reaffirms its firm commitment to the Rome Statute, to its universality and integrity, and to its full and effective implementation. All states are called upon to cooperate fully with the Court.
Violations of international law, including international human rights law and international humanitarian law, continue to cause immense suffering around the world. Accountability is what prevents future atrocities and what makes lasting peace possible.

There can be no lasting peace without justice, and no justice without accountability and meaningful reparations for victims.

The Annual Rule of Law Report is a driver for reforms based on close engagement with EU Member States.

Today the European Commission published its 7th edition. The Rule of Law is a cornerstone of EU values.

It examines rule of law developments in all EU Member States and four enlargement countries. This year's Report shows that the positive reform dynamic has continued.
