The JWC is seeking a Staff Officer (Site Management) to join its civilian workforce to manage and support infrastructure for the planning and ex*****on of ’s major training exercises and projects, providing critical expertise in resource management.

In this role, you will provide assurance to the Commander JWC that site services and infrastructure are fit for purpose and sufficient to allow the Commander to deliver effective training.

This includes planning improvements to infrastructure and facilities. The post also comprises the position of Health, Environment and Safety Officer.

General Aurelio Colagrande, Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Transformation (DSACT), visited NATO Joint Warfare Centre (JWC) from September 01 to 03.
General Colagrande was welcomed by Major General Ruprecht von Butler, Commander JWC, followed by an office call and comprehensive briefings about the JWC’s mission.
During his visit, General Colagrande also held the keynote address on the COE Directors’ Conference, as well as presenting DSACT Awards to JWC team members.

Ms Agnieszka Brugger, Member of the German Parliament and the Defence Committee; Deputy Chair Alliance 90/The Greens Parliamentary Group, visited NATO Joint Warfare Centre (JWC).

Ms Brugger was welcomed by Major General Ruprecht von Butler, Commander JWC. During her visit, Ms Brugger also had the opportunity to meet with the JWC’s German contingent and visit the National Support Element.

On behalf of the NATO Joint Warfare Centre, I would like to express my sincere condolences on the passing of His Majesty King Harald V of Norway.

King Harald V served his country with unwavering dedication, exemplified by the royal motto, "We give our all for Norway".

King Harald took a personal interest in NATO and the Joint Warfare Centre and met personally with each commander in audience, underscoring the importance he attached to NATO and its role in safeguarding Norway’s security.

I had the privilege of meeting King Harald on January 10, 2025, and I was immediately struck by his profound understanding of Alliance security matters.

King Harald stood as a symbol of dignity, unity and steadfast service to the nation. As Commander-in-Chief of the Norwegian Armed Forces, King Harald V demonstrated and inspired leadership throughout his reign.

Our thoughts are with the Royal Family and the people of Norway during this time of mourning.

Kong Harald V tjente sitt land med standhaftig dedikasjon, som gjenspeilet det kongelige mottoet «Alt for Norge».

Kong Harald viste personlig interesse for NATO og Joint Warfare Centre og møtte hver enkelt sjef personlig i audiens, noe som understreket den betydning han tilla NATO og organisasjonens rolle i å ivareta Norges sikkerhet.

Jeg hadde det privilegium å møte Kong Harald den 10. januar 2025, og jeg ble umiddelbart slått av hans utpregede forståelse av alliansens sikkerhetsspørsmål.

Kong Harald stod for verdighet, samhold og fedrelandskjærlighet. Som Forsvarets øverste befalingsmann viste og inspirerte Kong Harald V lederskap gjennom hele hans regjeringstid.

Våre tanker går til Kongefamilien og det norske folk i denne tiden med landesorg.

The JWC Community Day 2026 🎉🌎

NATO Joint Warfare Centre (JWC) held its Community Day on August 22. This highlight event brought together JWC staff and their families with various exhibitors from the local community to enjoy a day of food, fun and information.

In addition to being one of the largest community events of the year, the Community Day also plays a key role in connecting the JWC with the community in the region and strengthening relationships.

NATO Joint Warfare Centre (JWC) is conducting a series of staff upskilling workshops this week focusing on digitalization, modelling and simulation, implementation of the Maven Smart System, as well as new ways of working, resources, and staff writing.

Major General Ruprecht von Butler, the JWC Commander, opened the upskilling week on August 24 with a brief on the JWC’s priority areas in the next 18 months. The Commander provided updates on NATO’s evolving exercise process, future training, and the JWC’s important role in delivering NATO’s largest and most complex computer-assisted command post exercises, which are “focused, dynamic and relevant.”

The upskilling week follows the JWC’s week-long newcomers training, which aimed to help new staff members achieve a smooth transition and gain a better understanding of the organization.

Rounding off the newcomers training, the JWC held its Community Day on August 22.

The Newcomers’ Week commenced at NATO Joint Warfare Centre (JWC)!

Today marked the first day of the newcomers training, welcoming 39 new staff members and their families to the organization. The training aims to provide a comprehensive introduction to the JWC’s mission, history, culture, current activities, support services and resources, helping new members make a smooth transition and gain a better understanding of the JWC.

The briefings focused on the JWC’s dual mission of delivering multi-domain training and warfare development to . The highlights included AI-enabled innovations in exercise design and ex*****on, as well as many transformation initiatives across the organization.

The newcomers training was also designed to build a deeper understanding of NATO’s changing strategic environment and some of the Alliance’s key concepts and initiatives.

Opening remarks were delivered by Major General Ruprecht von Butler, Commander JWC, who also presented the JWC Mission Brief.

The JWC Commander welcomed the newcomers and commended the hospitality extended to the JWC by its host nation Norway. 🇳🇴

Major General von Butler said that the JWC was laser focused on enabling the readiness of the warfighter and making NATO better through its mission, which is built on three core values: Excellence in Action, Innovation in Motion, and United in Purpose.

The Joint Warfare Centre is NATO’s training focal point for joint operational- and strategic-level warfare, responsible for delivering NATO’s largest multi-domain exercises at these levels.

The Centre’s workforce comprises military posts from 18 NATO member states: Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Türkiye, the United Kingdom, and the United States, as well as NATO International Civilians.
