PART 2 - What a wonderful day for families at Uluvehi as the community gathered to celebrate Mutalau Marine Day and the King's Birthday.

From sunrise, Uluvehi was buzzing with activity as families, friends and visitors came to enjoy delicious food, fishing competitions, bingo, and plenty more throughout the day.

The fishing competition attracted participants of all ages, showcasing local skills and knowledge of the sea, while the weigh-in brought plenty of excitement as catches came in and measured.. The bingo sessions were equally popular, adding to the fun and community spirit throughout the day.

Mutalau Marine Day continues to be an occasion that brings people together to celebrate our connection to the ocean, village, and the traditions that make our communities strong.

Fakaaue lahi to the organisers, the people of Mutalau, sponsors, and everyone who came along to support a successful and enjoyable day at Uluvehi.

This morning marked a significant milestone for Niue with the opening of the first carving symposium of its kind to be held on the island.

Hosted at Lialagi, Lakepa, the symposium brings together the Tatai Hononga carvers collective from Aotearoa and the local community in a unique celebration of carving, culture, and knowledge sharing. Over the coming days, the artists will create a series of Pou Whenua that will be permanently installed at Hikulagi Sculpture Park.

The opening ceremony was attended by supporters, sponsors, Talatalai members, and invited guests, all gathered to acknowledge the importance of this historic cultural exchange and the opportunities it provides for learning, collaboration, and artistic expression.

Fakaaue lahi to everyone who has contributed to making this vision a reality. These photos capture some of the highlights from this morning's opening and the beginning of what promises to be an inspiring and memorable symposium.
