I’m standing for ACT because I believe New Zealanders want real change this election. Not the same stale choice of Labour or National, but a party with a proven track record which will bring fresh thinking to New Zealand’s government. I came to this beautiful country from India in 2004, drawn by the promise of a land of opportunity. When I applied for my visa, staff at the New Zealand High Commiss
ion described it as a place where fairness and equality prevailed. As time went on, I saw these values being eroded. Having lived in India in the 1990s, I know first-hand how this leads to division within society. This deeply concerns me, and I worry about the future of my daughter and future generations. Another reason I chose New Zealand was the dream of living in a safe country, but this paradise I envisioned seems to have been lost to rising crime rates. My parents worked tirelessly to provide me with the education, values, and skills I’d need to become a responsible citizen who pays taxes and contributes to society. These days more and more Kiwis struggle just to make ends meet due to the high cost of living. It's disheartening to face such constant challenges. The issues we face today, crime, the cost of living and co-governance are the result of the tired policies perpetuated by both major political parties. They have fostered a culture of mediocrity and complacency, rather than one of aspiration and achievement. If you, like me, want to restore the New Zealand that I once believed in—a safe country where running a business is not plagued by fear and where providing for a family does not require sacrificing an arm and a leg—then I urge you to join me in voting for Real Change, to Party Vote ACT. Together, we can work towards preserving the values that make New Zealand a truly remarkable place to call home. Let's bring about the change we need for a better future.
