Students learn best when they feel they belong. Cultural connection helps develop a sense of identity and belonging, strengthens relationships and encourages participation at school.

Today at We Got You, we wore pink in support of Pink Shirt Day, standing together against bullying and for kindness, inclusion, and belonging.
Creating safe spaces for young people starts with the small things:
🩷How we speak.
🩷How we show up.
🩷How we treat each other.

Now for the important question…
Who wore it best? 👀👇

Not every step forward looks dramatic.
Sometimes it’s just a small moment that helps things click again.

One of our ākonga was returning to class after months of disrupted schooling. They genuinely wanted to be there they just needed a bit of time to settle back in.

Our Case Manager picked up on that straight away. Instead of forcing what might have felt unnatural at first, they headed out to the court, shot a few hoops, had a bit of a laugh, and gave things room to breathe before heading back in.

Moments like that don’t look big from the outside, but they’re often the turning points.

That’s what child-centred, solution-focused work really is: paying attention, staying flexible, and finding the approach that helps a young person feel safe enough to try again.

For many autistic people, sensory overwhelm is a daily experience that can make everyday places feel overwhelming and intense.

Today at We Got You Attendance we acknowledge Hoods Up for Autism Day, we support autistic tamariki and their whānau and are committed to building understanding in our communities 💛
