Today all across the country, people stood together for the rights of our transgender, takatāpui, intersex and non-binary communities.

The definition of a woman and man Bill is devisive and excludes rainbow communities from legislation. We oppose the Bill.

Christopher Luxon has failed to fix the cost of living and deliver the relief he promised. National’s record is more cuts and higher costs. Only Labour will guarantee three free doctor's visits, so cost is never a barrier to care.

You may have heard about the wonderful mahi happening at the Linwood Resource Centre and Community Garden, but did you know you can also find the mighty SuperGrans there every Thursday morning?

The Linwood Resource Centre is a real community hub – bringing people together through the community garden, Menz Shed, support services and local connections. 🌱

And SuperGrans SuperSills Ōtautahi helps people build practical life skills, from budgeting and cooking to sewing, gardening and making the most of a household budget.

Great to spend some time with the teams and volunteers who make these spaces so welcoming and who quietly make a huge difference in our community every day. 💛

If you’d like to get involved, drop by for a visit.

Great to visit the New Zealand Food Network’s Christchurch Distribution Centre and hear from Nicki, Deb and the team about the latest Hunger Monitor findings.

Their work is making a real difference, helping get quality surplus food to communities across Canterbury, and importantly for the environment, out of landfill! But the growing demand they’re seeing is a stark reminder that many households are under pressure.

That’s why practical cost-of-living measures matter — whether it’s keeping food on the table or reducing transport costs through Labour’s $20 public transport fare cap.

Community organisations continue to step up, but the long-term answer isn’t more people needing food support, it’s making sure people can afford the essentials in the first place.

Thanks to everyone involved for the incredible mahi they do every day.

Always feel a bit awkward suggesting public “coffee catch-ups” when I don’t actually drink coffee and very rarely venture towards a hot drink.

Always smile when someone joins my Chai and I with a hot chocolate and together we can feel like proper grown-ups after all.

$20 a week. That’s the most you’ll ever pay to get around under
Labour. Public transport fares in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch will
be capped at $20 a week, and $10 everywhere else. Once you hit the cap,
getting to work, school or the shops won’t cost you a cent more. Simple,
immediate savings straight back in your pocket.

Get where you’re going for less with Labour. $20 a week is the most you’ll pay to get around on public transport.

🚌 It saves you money. Weekly fares will be capped at $20 in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch, and $10 everywhere else. Once you reach the cap, every trip after is free.

🚆 It's simple. No applications. No paperwork. No complicated rules. Just savings. Tag on as normal - the system tracks your spending and stops charging you once you reach the cap.

💰 It's a smart use of money. Labour's fare cap will cost around 1% of the National Land Transport Fund. It is a small investment that delivers immediate savings while easing congestion on our roads.

Our $20 fare cap is just one of the ways life will get better with Labour. Better jobs. Affordable healthcare. Household bills you can actually pay.
