NEW ZEALAND: DHBs STAND DOWN OVER 1300 STAFF DUE TO MANDATES

One would think, at a time when staffing is already problematic in healthcare settings, that the last thing we need to do is fire good people. 🤯

But that's exactly what has happened.

Some might say those stood down are crazy - weirdos, or people who have been somehow lead astray...🥴

Others might suggest that these people have good reason to decline an experimental injection and just maybe their clinical or personal observation and experience has contributed to their decision. 🧐

"More than 1300 district health board staff have been stood down because they were not vaccinated by Monday."

Amongst this collective are 25 Senior Medical Officers. These are either consultants, specialists, or Heads of Departments. 🏆

DO WE REALLY THINK THEY ARE MISGUIDED, TINFOIL HAT WEARING NUTTERS?

We think not.

At least 463 nurses were identified in the article as having been lost. One has to wonder what they've seen to make them choose to leave their careers...

Either way, the Government is playing down the fact that these losses will negatively affect patient care across a range of critical services.
