We did an Angel delivery of 30 Aroha Packs to our friends at Oranga Tamariki in Whangārei today. All kids deserve dignity and with the team there and your help to fill these bags we know a few more teens will be smiling.

Connecting with Cindy and Gypsy, and hearing the stories of girls in care has deeply influenced our commitment to this project. Our stories from rural Te Tai Tokerau-Northland are a little different to but just as profound- poverty, lack of clean water and access to product. Missing school, sport, social opportunities; plus shame, fear and isolation. Angel Aroha packs are making a difference!

🙌🏽SHOUT OUT and CALL OUT with big loves to our amazing Angel volunteers who show up season after season to sort, pack, mentor kids, share aroha and keep the wind under our wings.
😇They are generous, kind and real.
😇They are friends, supporters and carers. 😇They are talented, smart and resourceful. 😇They are Angels.
😇They are awesome.

😉Some are champions of weird s**t.
🤍Special memories today🤍 of one Angel who flew to heavenly places.
And others who just flew to other countries…
They are all valued every single day and we do try to remind them of that often!

We love Phyllis and Jackie from Whakawhiti Ora Pai Community Health Te Kao (the northern most health clinic in Aotearoa) who came all the way down to collect boxes of goodness today. They were happy! I just took a s**t pic😂. The way they talk about their community makes it really clear their hearts and minds are invested in sharing hope and wellbeing. They were saying our new Aroha Packs ( teen hygiene) have been creating opportunities to build connection with young tane ( men ), leading to healthy referrals and trusted relationships🙌🏽 Awesome outcomes! 💗They wanted more, but we need to secure funding to sustain this project. Delightfully ‘on trend’ toddler knitwear from Judith who boxes up everything with handwritten notes and washing instructions and sends it all the way up here from her place in Warkworth. All gone up to the Far, Far, Far North with Phyllis and Jackie for vulnerable kids. 🥰

You donated loads of bedding when we asked for it! Thank you!! It’s all out there warming up little bodies and helping kids sleep better, play better and live better.

When we get a specific referrals for vulnerable children, we pack the boxes thoughtfully, making sure they have clean and tidy socks, sweats, pjs, underwear, and often a book or toy, ball or Angel Bear to make them smile. Sometimes we need to purchase a few bits. Your donations make this possible.

For the third (or fourth?) year Macy and Perry have committed to helping keep other kids warm. 🥰
These beautiful, seasoned Angels ran Pyjama Day again at Springbank School and collected loads of donated PJs. They also included a bake sale so they could raise hundreds of dollars.
Then off they went to personally and thoughtfully shop for vulnerable kids thinking about what they chose. They’ve just delivered 35x pyjamas and 20x bedsocks as well as a donation of their own warm clothing.
Plus the school community have also donated cash to help support vulnerable kids. Thank you to all of you Springbank School - you’re awesome!

Macy and Perry 🫶🏽So much aroha, commitment, generosity, kindness and compassion. Some of your goodness has been packed up and delivered to kids across Te Tai Tokerau already. Perfect timing! Thank you!

Families are desperate. Kids are cold. 😢
We’ve been absolutely inundated with referrals and requests for bedding in the last two weeks.
Families are desperate. Kids are cold.
We need:
💗Warm blankets( singles mostly..and queens)
💗Sheets
💗Duvet inners ( we have covers)

Plus
💗unisex clothes ( cos we never know if we’ll need boys or girls stuff)
EG: sweat pants, thermal tees, hoodies, bush shirts, sweat shirts -all sizes
(3yrs to 15 yrs needed this week please)

🙃Please NOTE: We Do Not need duvet covers unless the inner comes with them. And we have pillow cases- but no pillows.

Angel, otherwise known as Angela, from Te Hau Ora ō Ngāpuhi, popped in to pick up some much needed essential for a solo Pāpā and his tamariki. We know Angel will awhi and support them all and let them know they are not alone.

When we get a surprise box from ‘Beanies for Babies’ it’s always completely UN surprising to open it to ohhhs and ahhhs. 🥹 Every time- without fail-it’s filled with warm and cosy goodies for babies. The surprise is that we never know when it’s coming! Their knitters are all over the country and their page is filled with the warmth and aroha of real community. We love that these crafters all create from far apart, hardly ever meeting each other, yet in deep connection. It’s very special….. and the boxes once opened spill over with that Manaaki. And then we share it on to our Angel Partner agencies and whānau all over Te Tai Tokerau. 🌸. Beanies for Babies NZ 2019
