I’m thinking some vulnerable tamariki know they really do matter.
Thanks to some of you beautiful people who responded to our request,
including a certain warm hearted Sarah ( hint: 💕 🛼 💰🏡) and her whānau who donated lots of new necessities 🙏🏽thank you, thank you!

Now they can get to school; warm, dry and having had a better nights sleep.
Now they can learn, play, and live a little better.
Now they can navigate the challenges and trauma -at least knowing this community cares about them.

That’s precious.

…. Halos are flying ….

You may have seen our new window decal - here’s a little backgound on why it’s there.

The Bay of Islands, Kerikeri and Northland are where we work, live and belong. We see what makes this region special - and where a helping hand is needed.

That’s why we’ve teamed up with Bald Angels, a local charitable trust supporting Far North kids with care, opportunities and practical help.

How the partnership works - Every time our Kerikeri team sells a property, a portion of the commission goes directly to Bald Angels, helping provide everything from care packs and meals to mentoring and life skills.

Together, we’re making every “SOLD” sign mean something more - a stronger start for young people in our community.

And that’s a wrap for our winter project.

Massive thanks to Opal Packaging andKainui Pack & Cool for our beautiful boxes!
They’ve donated more than 20,000 boxes over the last few years - not all printed with pink angels- these still give us a real BUZZ! ( not to dis the old lemon and avocado versions 😉, Kerry!) We’re sooo super lucky to have you and the Kainui whānau on board this waka with us.

✔️✔️✔️TODAY: A wee roadie to Kaikohe and CBEC to check out the recycling mission; delivering some last boxes of warmth to our social service partners; a meeting at The Turner Centre to check out our next fun event(stay tuned!) … and a brainstorming with the event Angels….. some whacko thoughts were surfaced(🤭) whoop whoop!

👉🏽next up: Christmas Toys !!!

🚨And a few more emergency requests. I’ll pop them on tomorrow.

Thanks to everyone who has helped keep kids warm this winter. We can’t do any of this without you!

As we approach the first anniversary of our partnership with Bald Angels, we’re proud to have raised $30,000 so far.

We’re excited to continue our support and help make a difference through the incredible work Bald Angels do in our community.

There’s giving in whole heartedness. And there’s giving, with expectations.

These beautifully crafted quilts arrived from Bays Patchwork Group -delivered by our Angel Ruth. She said they’re happy for us to give them to families, or auction them, or sell them and raise money to provide specific supports needed.
That is true generosity of spirit! Giving in its full essence. Without expectation.

We’ve stumbled with this over the years when we think someone should behave, respond or act a certain way. But we’ve learnt that we must stand back & let go in trust. Our recipients know better than us what their needs are.
For example, if an Angel Sack ( baby sleeping bag) is used for nanny or koro to keep their feet warm when baby grows out of it- so be it! 🥰That’s the best use in that household right now.
Or a quilt is given for a child‘s bed, but it’s hung over the window to keep the chill out or hitched to something for a privacy screen, then that’s their choice. That’s their need.

It’s something very precious. Giving wholeheartedly.

We’re coming up to Christmas and we’ll be asking for community giving. Together we can make a difference for about 12-1300 tamariki ( children) again this season.

Such a special ( and crazy) honour and now … a room named for that shy and awkward kiwi kid with a disability who grew up to find a community full of aroha and kindness. 🥹

Bald Angels also received the kiwibank joint Community of Year in 2024 for our Cyclone Response. So we are doubly honoured. It’s a bit nuts, aye?

Congratulations to all the awesome nominees in this year’s Kiwibank New Zealander of the Year Awards .

And shout out to this community and to the KiwiBank team for treasuring our people.
