Tūī Park Kindergarten

Tūī Park Kindergarten High Quality Early Childhood Education We are in Linden, Tawa, right next to Tui Park and we are often serenaded by tui.

We are spoilt for outdoor space with an environment that changes with the seasons and includes fruit trees and a vegetable patch. We are ‘yes’ teachers and believe in honest connections with children, where children are truly listened to by teachers who respect and respond to their needs. Saying yes has had a positive flow on to supporting children's social competency. We love to have fun and laug

hter is a big part of our day. Our door is always open for whānau and we often have past whānau stopping in for a cuppa and a catch up. We love to bake and cook with the children, with soup and bread often offered on cold days. Our recent ERO report was very positive, stating that our philosophy is seen in practice with the day to day interactions between teachers and children.

Today our tamariki had so much fun trying out our new double trapeze bars! 😊 They did an amazing job waiting patiently for their turns, learning from one another, and offering lots of encouragement and support. It was wonderful to see them challenging their physical skills, showing bravery, and feeling proud of their achievements. Ka pai, everyone! 👏

🌺 Sāmoan Language Week 🌺
We loved celebrating Sāmoan Language Week at kindergarten! Our tamariki enjoyed creating art, wearing lavalava, and sharing kai while learning about Sāmoan culture.
A big thank you to Helen & Jamie and Aunty Nuon for your support. We finished the week with shared kai and a wonderful performance from the Poyer fanau 💃🏽
Fa’afetai tele lava everyone! 💛

Kindergartens Aotearoa acknowledges the 1.5% funding increase to ECE services announced in the budget yesterday.

However, funding is completely inadequate to meet the costs of high-quality service provision.

Funding simply hasn’t kept pace with inflation, and after minimal increases in recent years, the sector remains woefully underfunded and higher fees are out of reach for many households.

Increasing state house rentals, no relief for fuel costs and the high cost of living impact the families and whānau we work with every day.

Government chooses where to spend our public funds and it has chosen not to support those communities. It’s a missed opportunity and that’s deeply disappointing.

Te wero ā‑tinana. Tamariki challenged themselves through physical play, taking great joy in leaping from the box onto the mat and rushing over to see their action shots. Ka rawe, tamariki mā .Your confidence and enthusiasm shone.
Kaiako supported tamariki to participate, take risks, and explore what their bodies can do. This play strengthened not only physical skills but also mana and self‑belief.

What a morning of discovery at Tūī Park. Our tamariki explored scientific concepts using coloured vinegar, baking soda, and droppers. They were fascinated to see how two simple materials can create an exciting new reaction. This experience also supported their fine motor development as they carefully used droppers to transfer the coloured vinegar onto the baking soda. A wonderful blend of learning, curiosity, and fun.

Today we pause to remember the courage, service, and sacrifice of the ANZACs.
We honour all those who have served, and those who continue to serve, for the wellbeing of our communities. May we teach our tamariki the values of peace, kindness, and looking after one another.
Lest we forget.

Kia ora e te whānau 💛

With the heavy rain we’re experiencing, please avoid unnecessary travel.

A decision will be made early tomorrow morning regarding the opening of the kindergarten based on weather and road conditions and advice from WREMO, civil defense, and local council. You may need to have a plan for alternative care for your tamariki.

Stay warm, stay dry, and look after each other 🤍

If it’s raining, icy, snowing or foggy, conditions on the road will be more dangerous. You need to drive with extra care.
