Only FIVE days to go!

Your voting papers just have to make the final (and seemingly impossible) journey from your backpack, handbag, laptop bag or kitchen bench. You've got this.

Work is beginning soon on the temporary park and ride carpark - which will take up some of the strain of the Melling carpark station closure.

Great idea to follow their fb page too!

With Melling station set to close in late December as construction gets underway, a temporary park and ride will be built at Petone to help mitigate disruption to commuters.🚗🚙🚄

The new car park will feature over 100 new car parks within walking distance of the Petone station (located on the corner of Priests Avenue and Pito-One Road).

Work begins on the new car park on Monday 6 October. Once complete, the car park be available from December until approximately 2031.

Most work will take place during the day however, some work will have to happen overnight – this will have some impact to the local road and state highway.

This is good news and has been a long time coming.

I wasn’t able to attend the HV Living Wage Network event last night but I have confirmed to the organisers that I support their four ASKS:

1. Value the Council’s workforce as an accredited Living Wage
Employer

2. Working with other Councils to see the new water entity become an
accredited Living Wage Employer

3. Championing the Living Wage by working with workers and
employers to create a Living Wage city

4. Continue to regularly meet with the Movement to progress these
commitments

The Living Wage is set at $28.95 from the beginning of September this year, up from $27.80.
