Late last week, Royal New Zealand Navy's HMNZS Aotearoa participated in a Multinational Maritime Cooperation Activity (MMCA) in the Philippine Sea with the navies of Australia, Philippines and the USA.

Aotearoa joined Philippine Navy's BRP Jose Rizal, Royal Australian Navy's HMAS Ballarat and U.S. Navy's USS Fitzgerald on two Combined Anti-Submarine Exercises.

Our Navy’s maritime sustainment vessel also conducted a 680,000 litre marine diesel Replenishment at Sea (RAS) with Fitzgerald, and performed RAS approach training with Jose Rizal.

Aotearoa’s embarked Seasprite and Ballarat’s Seahawk helicopters also took the opportunity to conduct joint ​aviation ops.

This type of practical training is routine and invaluable for like-minded partner navies striving for a peaceful & stable Indo-Pacific.

On Friday, Aotearoa sailed into Manila on a diplomatic port visit before embarking on the next phase of Operation Crucible.

NEWS📢 The Royal New Zealand Navy (RNZN) frigate HMNZS Te Kaha has arrived in Jakarta on a goodwill port visit – the first visit to Indonesia by a RNZN vessel since 2017.

The two day visit forms part of HMNZS Te Kaha’s role in supporting the United Kingdom Carrier Strike Group, currently operating in the Indo-Pacific. The ship is berthed alongside Royal Navy and Armada (Spanish Navy) vessels also visiting Jakarta during this period.
