What an experience!

Midday Saturday is nearly here! If you havent yet, drop your voting papers off in the orange bin at Shannon Foursquare (other options avaliable in Levin and Foxton). If you didn't recieve papers go make a special vote in Levin at the Horowhenua council building.

As of yesterday 36% of Miranui ward residents have voted. What percentage can we hit by 12pm Saturday?

I'd love to represent our community at the council table. 🙌

**Why am I standing?**

I believe I can do this job! I've got the time and commitment to engage with our community. My goal is to build solid relationships with Miranui Ward residents, as well as constructive connections with other elected members. I've always had an interest in local government, and it feels like the right moment for me to embrace the challenges of this role and really serve my community.

I love to read and learn, and during this campaign, I’ve been asked a lot, “What are you going to achieve?” I've reflected on this question a lot - as while I know I am going into this with the right intentions, it's fair that you want to know where I will place my time and effort. Honestly, I don’t have a list of top issues or projects, or pre-conceived solutions to address the challenges we face. What I do have is integrity, 11 years of being part of this community, a genuine interest and commitment to listen to you, and the energy to drive things forward. What I really want to do is to continue to hear from you—the community!

There are definitely groups I don't encounter in my day-to-day life, and I've been trying my best to reach out to as many as I can during this campaign. We’ve got plenty of changes and challenges ahead, and I really want to be there in the decision-making process to make a positive impact on our community.

Hey everyone! Just wanted to give you a heads up that there's a “Meet the Candidates” evening happening in Levin tomorrow, hosted by Horowhenua Chronicle. It's on at 5pm, 11th of September at Te Takeretanga o Kura-hau-pō.

Unfortunately, I can't make it to the event. When I was chatting with other Councillors while figuring out if this role was the right fit for me and my family, they all emphasized just how much time it takes. They recommended learning to balance the workload with everything else going on in life, which is definitely something I’m trying to master!

Not being able to attend feels a bit off, but I'm focused on prioritizing my time and finding the best ways to serve this community. My current focus is meeting as many Miranui Ward residents as possible. Would you like me to come meet your group? Flick me a message.

Tēnā koutou

I am a candidate for the Miranui ward which covers the lovely Shannon, Tokomaru and Opiki.

As a resident of Otāuru/Shannon for 11 years, I'm an active user of our local businesses, green spaces, sports grounds, and community facilities in our ward and district.

As a Councillor, I will prioritise regular, meaningful engagement with all Miranui ward residents and stakeholders. I'll listen to your views and ensure your ideas help shape our future. I am committed to building productive relationships with fellow Councillors to deliver positive, informed decisions for our region.

I value family time, the outdoors, and lifelong learning, and I am excited for the opportunity to serve, learn, and work together for the benefit of our community.

I look forward to continuing to meet the residents of our ward.
