Massive first week of TRM Foundations!

Big mihi to all our new tauira who took the leap and stepped through our doors this week. We know stepping into a new space and environment can be hard, and we’re proud of you for showing up!

Heaps of laughs, resetting our tikanga, learnings, whanaungatanga, and most importantly, starting to build strong relationships.

Next week we move into Laying the Foundation. Our focus turns inward as we deep dive into identity and wellbeing, learning more about who we are and what makes us, us.

And if you look closely, you might spot a few familiar faces who have made their way back home to TRM. Nau mai, hoki mai! It’s good to have you back.

TRM FOUNDATIONS STARTS MONDAY!

The countdown is on! We can’t wait to welcome our first intake of rangatahi and kick off this exciting new journey together.

Matua Angus and Matua Atrail are on the phones today getting in touch with everyone about transport arrangements. If you don’t catch their call, don’t worry! they’ll also send you a text with your pick-up details.

For all new students using our transport service:
Please be ready by 8:00am to be safe. Our awesome driver will be picking everyone up between 8:00am and 9:30am. By the end of next week we’ll have a more consistent pick-up schedule for everyone.

Our whole TRM whānau is feeling pumped and ready to get TRM Foundations underway!

Throw back from last term🌿

Here at TRM, we value Mātauranga Māori. This is a glimpse of one way our tāne practiced this, through contemporary mau rakau, patu, and māori kēmu! Here you can see Mātua Tuari Dawson, martial arts master and educator, share his knowledge in this space. This was most of our tāne's first exposure to these practices. Too much brothers, tūwhitia te hopo, mairangatia te angitū!

A huge congratulations to Whaea Rach and Ashanti on being the first featured artists in the new Wainui Collective at the Wainuiomata Hub.

It’s been a privilege to watch Ashanti discover her passion for raranga through our Whakamana Wahine programme and continue to grow under the guidance and mentorship of Whaea Rach. Seeing their beautiful mahi showcased in our community is something really special.

Ngā mihi nui to Love Wainuiomata and the Wainuiomata Hub for creating this awesome opportunity to support and celebrate local talent. If you’re in town, be sure to stop by and check out their incredible creations. 🌿🖤💚
