🚍 Exploring public transport options for Laingholm and South Titirangi🚍

Today, Waitākere Ranges Local Board members joined Auckland Transport and Ritchies to experience a bus trial through the Laingholm and South Titirangi area.

The trial provided an opportunity to see firsthand the challenges of operating bus services on some of the area's narrow and winding roads, while also assessing smaller bus options and how they perform on existing routes.

The Board has long advocated for reliable public transport solutions for these communities and welcomed the opportunity to better understand the operational challenges and potential options available.

We look forward to ongoing discussions with Auckland Transport as work continues to identify safe, practical and sustainable public transport solutions for local residents.

🚧Good news for Glen Eden! 🚧

AT is modifying the speed table ramps at the West Coast Road/Glendale Road intersection — an outcome the Waitākere Ranges Local Board has been advocating for on behalf of the community for several years.

This speed table has been one of the primary issues raised by local residents since it was installed, and I’ve been raising this with AT since I was elected to the Local Board last year.

I’m very pleased to see this work now going ahead. The speed table itself will remain, but the profiles of the ramps will be improved, with the aim of providing a better experience for drivers using the intersection.

🗓️ Works are scheduled for:
• Friday 21 August – Monday 24 August
• Friday 28 August – Monday 31 August
(weather dependent)

🚧 The intersection will be closed during the works, with detours in place. Please allow extra time for your journey and take care around the work area.

Thank you to local residents for your patience while the works are carried out. Hopefully, these changes will make a noticeable improvement to the experience of using this intersection.

It’s great to see community advocacy leading to a practical improvement for Glen Eden. As a local resident, I’ll continue to work alongside our community to advocate for the improvements that matter locally. 🙌

Big smiles all round in The West! 😁

Thanks to a $11,022 grant from our 2025 Your West Support Fund, Well Foundation is helping bring free dental care directly to tamariki through their mobile dental outreach service.

Working alongside the Auckland Regional Dental Service, the mobile van visits early learning centres, kōhanga reo, kura kaupapa, marae and community spaces right across The West, removing the barriers that can stop kids getting the care they need.

The funding has gone towards a new trailer and generator, refreshed graphics on the van so it stays visible and welcoming, and toothbrush and toothpaste packs for whānau who need them most.

Healthy smiles, healthier futures. Ngā mihi nui to the team keeping our tamariki grinning.
