What a spectacular waste of time, money and resources today - instead of getting on and fixing things we got 49 MPs in an emergency caucus meeting. Let's say 40 of them flew in and out of Wellington today. The rest live close enough to drive. That's at least 80 return flights - although some MPs will catch multiple flights to come and go to Wellington.
49 diaries reorganized and flights booked, let's say a couple of hours to rejig per MP - electorate or Ministerial staff focusing on this.
Electorate staff lifting and shifting appointments - all that previous planning and organising - most of it now out the window. A Minister's staff "evented" that means they lost their jobs today across all six of Penk's portfolios.
