PASAY CITY โ The Overseas Workers Welfare AdministrationโNational Capital Region (OWWA NCR) welcomed the qualifiers of the Education for Development Scholarship Program (EDSP) for School Year 2026โ2027 during an orientation held on Wednesday, 12 August 2026, at the OWWA NCR Multipurpose Hall in Pasay City.
The activity formally welcomed the new batch of OWWA scholars and provided them with essential information on their responsibilities, scholarship benefits, and the terms and conditions governing the grant.
OWWA NCR Officer-in-Charge for Program Services Division Anna Liza M. Estrada delivered the welcome remarks and congratulated the qualifiers for successfully passing the scholarship qualifying examination. She emphasized that being an OWWA scholar is both a privilege and a responsibility, encouraging the scholars to make the most of the opportunity by demonstrating commitment to their studies and striving for academic excellence.
OWWA NCR Regional Director Ma. Teresa B. Capa also delivered an inspiring message, encouraging the scholars to pursue their education with determination and to recognize the scholarship as an investment in their future, their families, and the country.

Meanwhile, OWWA NCR Education and Training Head Catherine V. Leysa discussed the scholarsโ obligations and responsibilities as stipulated in the scholarship agreement. The orientation underscored the importance of compliance with the programโs requirements and maintaining the academic standards expected of OWWA scholars.
The Land Bank of the Philippines (LANDBANK) also conducted a presentation on the process of opening an ATM account for the scholars. As a partner of OWWA, LANDBANK supports the efficient, secure, and accessible distribution of scholarship grants through its ATM facilities.
The EDSP is one of OWWAโs scholarship programs designed to provide educational assistance to qualified dependents of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs). Through programs such as the EDSP, OWWA continues to strengthen its commitment to supporting the education and development of OFW families and empowering the next generation through accessible educational opportunities.
As the new scholars begin their academic journey, OWWA NCR urged them to uphold the values of discipline, perseverance, and excellence and to honor the opportunity entrusted to them by making education a meaningful pathway toward a brighter future.
