🇦🇶 AROB Day 2025 – A Heartfelt Thank You 🙏

Today, Arawa came alive in celebration of ABG Inauguration Day, aka AROB Day, under the unifying theme:
“Harnessing and Strengthening Our Journey, Aspiring Our Future.”

We extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who joined us, making today a powerful display of unity, culture, and shared purpose.

🌟 Special thanks to the Autonomous Bougainville Government (ABG) for enabling this event through its rationed funding support — your commitment, even in challenging times, made this day possible.
🙏 To the Office of the ABG President, thank you for your continued leadership and presence throughout these important milestones.

🤝 We sincerely thank the Wakunai District Administration and their Community Governments who travelled to Arawa and stood with us in solidarity.

👏 A special appreciation goes to our AUCG Chairlady and Deputy Chair, who proudly represented our town, alongside MOC Markos, and many other key stakeholders who contributed in one way or another to the success of this day.

🚴‍♂️ The day’s bicycle float parade, with riders waving AROB flags around town and the Independence Oval, was a symbolic and spirited beginning.

🎭 The crowd was captivated by incredible cultural performances from:
— Bakavori Kaur Group (Kieta)
— Ewara Kaur Group (Wakunai)
— Bolave Contemporary Group (Nagovis)

🎤 We were also inspired by our young talents showcasing their talents through songs and dances, and uplifted by energetic live band performances that brought joy to all in attendance.

Today reminded us of our resilience, our identity, and our shared dream of an independent Bougainville.

Thank you, Arawa. Thank you, Bougainville. The journey continues — and the future is ours to shape.

⚠️ PUBLIC NOTICE: ILLEGAL SALE & PURCHASE OF LAND IN ARAWA TOWN ⚠️

The Arawa Urban Community Government (AUCG) warns the public against the illegal sale and purchase of land within Arawa Town, including State land and land with legal title holders.

❌ No individual has the right to sell or buy land without proper legal documentation and approval from the relevant authorities.
❌ Anyone claiming to be a title holder without official documentation will be dealt with by the law.
❌ Buyers who fail to do their due diligence before purchasing land will also be held accountable.

🔴 Relevant Laws:
✅ Land Act 1996 (PNG) – Governs the administration of State land.
✅ Bougainville Lands and Physical Planning Act 2014 (ABG) – Regulates land use and development in Bougainville.
✅ Criminal Code Act 1974 (PNG) – Engaging in fraudulent land sales can result in criminal charges.

All illegal transactions will be reported to the authorities, and offenders will face legal action.

Before buying land, always verify ownership and legality with the Lands Department or AUCG.

🚨 PUBLIC NOTICE: TEMPORARY WATER SUPPLY SHUTDOWN 🚨

AUCG – Water & Sewerage Division wishes to inform all residents of Arawa Town that the main water supply will be shut down on 🗓️ Monday, 17th March 2025, for essential repairs on the main pipes. Water supply is expected to be restored on Tuesday, 18th March 2025.

💧 Residents are advised to use stored water wisely and limit other general household water usage such as laundry, and other non-essential uses from the tanks, until the main water supply is restored.

🙏 We apologize for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your patience as we carry out these necessary repairs to keep the system running.
