A Journey of Rhythm and Heart: Anslom in Taiwan

"Music is a bridge, and mine just crossed the ocean.

From the stages of Papua New Guinea to the shores of Taitung, I recently had the honor of performing at the Taiwan Pasiwali Festival. Sharing our PNG soul with the people of Taiwan was more than a performance—it was a homecoming.
The energy of the crowd and the deep connection with Taiwan’s indigenous culture left a mark on my heart that I won’t soon forget. The hospitality was boundless, the memories are vivid, and the music? It felt like family.
I’m back now, and I can't wait to share the magic of this journey with all of you."

Anslom, the world-renowned reggae artist, will visit Taiwan with his band to perform at the 8th Taiwan PASWALI Festival in Taitung from December 13 to 14. This year’s festival celebrates indigenous culture, a theme that strongly resonates with Anslom’s musical identity. He expressed that he feels fortunate to participate, noting that the organizers discovered his music online and reached out to invite him. Anslom conveyed his gratitude to the festival’s organizing committee and to the Taipei Economic Office PNG for facilitating his visit. He is particularly excited to take part in the event because it offers him the opportunity to showcase and promote Papua New Guinea’s culture in Taiwan. What impressed him further is learning that Taiwan is PNG’s fifth-largest trading partner, contributing between USD 1–1.5 billion annually through natural gas imports, which create a trade surplus for PNG. He said he is amazed by Taiwan and looks forward to exploring more of its rich and diverse culture during his visit.

This film is her heartfelt thank you to Dr. Nina Kao at Changhua Christian Hospital and Dr. Damien Hasola at Port Moresby General Hospital, who made her treatment journey possible.

A courageous woman from Papua New Guinea traveled to Taiwan’s Changhua Christian Hospital seeking treatment for breast cancer. In her heartfelt reflection, she shared:
"As a patient at Changhua Christian Hospital, I received world-class medical care delivered with kindness, respect, and professionalism. Their seamless electronic system made everything—from registration to payment and collecting medication—completely hassle-free.
My breast cancer treatment was prompt, with no delays. The specialists were highly skilled, and the diagnosis was thorough, starting from ultrasound and PET scans to treatment.
I travelled with my husband, and the hospital staff found affordable accommodation at around K900 per month. Food was budget-friendly with plenty of local options, or you could cook using fresh produce from nearby markets.
Changhua felt safe, and I moved around comfortably on my own. Local train travel was cheap—just PGK7 for a return trip to Taichung. The locals were friendly, and Google Translate helped bridge any language gaps.
Philippine Airlines offered return flights from Port Moresby to Taiwan for around PGK4344.
I highly recommend Taiwan for its affordable, high-standard medical care, safe environment, and welcoming people.
Thanks."
