Greylisted our Kina means it is very weak. Our economy is very fragile today and requires a reset of our economic strategies.

Old strategies have never been working, instead declining since we gained our independence.

Today, we are warned by greylisting us. That our economy is weaker than what we have in our books.

Reseting our new economic strategies will save us. We are supposed to export more than what we import. We need to devalue our Kina to at least 2.5 to 3 percent down.

However, devaluation works if our internal GDP is higher than the total value of goods and services we import.

Otherwise, devaluation is dangerous when it is miscalculated and mishandled in the way goods and services are depleted in one day from the shelves. But, this is the way forward since inflation took us overloaded.

1. Your K5 buys USD1 today.
2. Your K10 buys USD2 today
3. Your K100 buys USD20 today

Those who make purchases overseas know this very well.

Our Kina is weaker than before. It is still getting weaker and weaker every hour, day, week, months, and years.

Let us say no to corruption. No to nepotism. Say no to jealousy. No to beating our chest saying " mi bos, mi biksot." Stop it. We must understand that you can not escape from economic downturns nor success by hiding in the bush or anywhere underground.

And then today, greylisted!

Make Bougainville a resilient and innovative region moving toward a nationhood.

For you, Eivo Torau constituency leaders and ordinary people, we have outstanding tasks that require cleanups and streamlining.

Remove corruption and recruit competent personnel in key positions.

We can not wait this far, and we are still surfing behind other constituencies, especially our neighboring constituencies.

Please, stop "mi biksot na yu nogat" attitude and hold our hands together and striving to meet the level that our government is pushing with developments.

We must make our constituency corruption and nepotism free.

Thank you

People of Eivo-Torau Constituency!

We must start joining our hands and working side by side.

Bougainville is fast-tracking the development with the agenda of independence.

1. Aropa International Airport
2. Toniva Water Bottling
3. Toniva Solar Farm
4. Arawa Level 7 Hospital
5. Bougainville Medical University
6. Panguna Mine opens June 2026
7. Old Provincial Government House rehabilitation
8. White house rehabilitation
9. Wharf upgrading
10. Road construction, upgrading, improvement
11. More will fold in line.

With these developments, we expect more expatriates, and people from Papua New Guinea are coming to work.

If we think as we are enough, we will be like other provinces where law and order issues are taking the center stage. Police continue to gun down lawbreakers every now and then.

This is happening due to their past people not being prepared and working together.

In Bougainville, especially in Eivo-Torau Constituency, we must not allow this to happen.

We must work together hand in hand, at least compete at the scale level with government developments, and most giants that will follow suits for our living.

DEVELOPMENT

Fast tracking of development in underdeveloped countries invites foreigners to come and run the show for the benefit of them and not locals.

Locals benefit when their development is strategised people at their center working toward one goal at a reasonable time frame.

Bougainville, at this juncture, we have to be very careful. Our plans require an amicable time frame since we are still at the lower level of startup businesses, timber, sago leaves, and bamboo going up now to sheets and irons level. 99 percent in Bougainville can not afford steel and mason buildings as yet.

What does this tell us?

Getting in outside Bougainville giants. They include ging gongs, rabarabs, itchyitchy shashas, allies, and land of never learn friends to run the show. We started crying faol already. We will cry more and more if our strategies and plans ignore and neglect the resources, time, and space of our own people.

We are innovative and creative people. We are resilient and contented with what we do. We do everything to survive in our own circles. That's true. However, our weakness is ignorance and negligence. We never back or support our industrious ideas and activities, may be by our government or individuals. This is one thing we are not industrialized as yet.

We are still in the marketing stage, the business stage. We are still living in nomadic lives where hunters and gatherers are found. From that bottom and now information era, we missed out so much on industry level. This is the gap that will invite outsiders to run the show.

Fixing government institutions would be the first thing. Second, make people live permanent livelihoods. Third, moving people from the business to industry level where manufacturing activities are taking shape. The information era could be ice on the cake. Living nomadic lives and hunting for information and technology will get us nowhere. 2026 onward, you remember this article when ging gongs and the rest walking the streets.

TO ABG MEMBERS!

It is your duty to legislate and monitor to touch the lives of your people. Trust has been given to you.

Enacting laws that reach your people. Setting systems and processes that materialise the contents to reality. Then, respect the level of government and traditional leadership back in your constituency and ward.

Service delivery is not your responsibility. It is departmental heads' and managers' work to do. You are responsible for creating laws, their systems, and monitor so that heads and managers can deliver successful outcomes.

You create laws. Set systems and processes. Then, monitor and report the outcome.

Give space to your community government managers and chairladies. You have your ward members and village assembly. During the programs and projects, you have heads, managers, and workers to do the work.

Your work is to monitor to see them achieving what is transpired in the laws set. You hold them accountable, and in the event things are not working out as set, deal with them accordingly.

Doing everything by yourself will only invite corruption. No services are reaching out to your people due to incomplete programs or projects. You will lose trust. Everyone else in your constituency will continue to suffer one way or the other. Let us all work hand in hand under your fair leadership.

5th HOUSE

The inauguration was done and dusted yesterday. Swearing in to the 5th House, forming the government made of both new and continuing members.

ABG members are representatives of their people, not to mention resources within their constituencies. Few will take on the role of ministers to represent the entire people of Bougainville.

Thanks to late Joseph Kabui, today we have the hybrid form of the ABG government. We have half westminister system and US, where we find president and ministers in the parliament.

I am not sure what type of government we will have after 2027. The 5th House will decide on it. We have two no-nonsense leaders who retained their seats at this house, Hon. Ezikiel Masatt and Ishmael Toroama, to the political journey of Bougainville.

Some of us are calling on our members to do the right thing and working to step up the economic activities in your constituencies. Today's strategic move will set the foundation for our political independence and economy after 2027.

While Hon. President Ishamael Toroama and Hon. Ezekiel Masatt with their team working on our political independence, rest of you suppose to work with your constituents, support their initiatives and carve the wayforward together. Doing so, it will reflect your swearing in promises to the highest being to serve your people. Don't let the hypocrisy overruns you.

Central Bougainville - Counting

The counting is said to continue until 21 September.

Return of Writs is 22 September.

Central Bougainville has 10 constituencies starting from Rau to Kokoda.

Today is 15 September, and we are here taking 2 to 3 days (nights) to count. If this trend is continued, it will take another one week after September 21.

There is no update regarding this slowness. Not to mention, suspicions in other places add up too during such time.

Let's go Centrals. We can do better than spending two to three days in one constituency while the rest nine constituencies are still collecting dusts. We can finish on time if issues faced are solved on time and not to let it repeat, but moving forward.

BORUMAI ROAD!

We spent a lot of our private business and personal monies.

We used so much of our private resources to maintain and upgrade Borumai road.

This road almost killed our private businesses and drained our personal pockets because we are dead in need of road Borumai - Mainoki - Kaspeke and then to Karato - Torokina - west until North Bougainville.

Could be one of the trunk roads crossing many constituencies and wards depicting the Buka - Arawa - Buin highway road.

Thank you all, Simeku and Avaipa leaders and stakeholders who mobilized and brought up the Borumai road to the government - Central Bougainville Open Electorate.

Special acknowledgment to Hon. Jimmy Miringtoro, for wasting no time putting out the tender. Also, late Hon. Fr. Simon Dumarinu, both of you will be remembered by our people.

At last, struggle in private has come to the attention of government. Just that, reputable companies must apply and win the tender to work on our Borumai road.

RESPECT OUR BPS

We need to respect our Bougainville Police Service (BPS). We need to respect and work with them.

We have lost the plot. There is no respect to individual and family. No respect to parents and relatives. Ongoing disrespect to chiefs and elders. There is no respect to traditional norms and modern rule of law. No respect at all.

We never learn. We went through the bloodiest war in the Pacific. Through adversities, we walked and came out together as one. It has been always and it will remain as victory. But, we still never learn from adversities and hold our victory at heart as yet.

Bougainville was meant for peace after all these things. We were meant to live in peace during the 1997 cease fire and again at signing the Bougainville Peace Agreement in 2021. We were meant to unite and live in peace while negotiating our future through peaceful means and ways. Every one supposes to respect our peace.

Where are we now?

We are not respecting our peace today. Disrespectful of our peace and then our future is in question. Our peace supposes to answer our future for Bougainville.

And yet, we are so disrespectful to one another. We don't respect people anymore. Their properties are nothing to us. Traditional governance and modern government became useless to us. Law and order already faded among us.

Our BPS are there to ensure law and order is maintained among us the people. They are there to protect our safety, security and in more ways peace. They are there for us.

If we are going above and beyond our police, then what will happen? We will become enemies and go against each other to the point, taking away life of a person is normal.

We better bring back respect to one another and their properties. Our chiefs and elders. Family and community. Law and order. Respect our peace and our future. Let us have our police do their job with our support, because at the end of the day, they are our own mankind - brothers and sisters.

TIME TO BUILD OURSELVES!

It is about time we build ourselves. Building yourself and others while others do the same to themselves and you, can see the outcome unfolding tomorrow.

We will build ourselves only when we stop expecting others to do what we want of our future. Stop preaching and start doing what you see is good for you and others our future holds.

If you see agriculture is the best solution for Bougainville, then involve in agricultural and farming activities starting from the land to the office. Office to the land.

If you see MSMEC is the way forward, then run tents/tables, canteens, trade stores, companies and corporate entities starting from your house to towns. Towns to your house.

If you see forestry is good for sustainable livelihoods and wellbeing of people, then plant trees and protect the soil qualities with waterways mountain to the coastal. Coastal to the mountain.

If you see tourism is the best industry out of all industries, then be one of the tourism operators and promoters far and wide within your or our access dimensions. Perimeters to perimeters.

If you see the moden technology and information era is our future, then embark on to create new things that will contribute to our future wellbeing. Do not just sit on someone's chair and you think you are doing something. Create new things that are good for our people.

If you see politic is good for you, then play it well so that the outcome is beneficial for your people. Not just you and your stomach.

It's about time we build ourselves. Stop preaching and start doing something that will satisfy you and others. Expecting others to do what you know or want is the biggest mistake that any civilised person can up to. It is simply making unnecessary noise to disturb some good changes. Let's build ourselves!
