🏉 Building Strength Through Rugby Union
During an intensive week of Rugby Union drills, a dedicated group of our PNGDF, along with some members from , took part in an intensive Rugby Union program. The training combined hands on coaching, sports trainer development, and match official preparation — all delivered by the ADF Sports Team, including a licensed World Rugby Trainer.
Perfectly timed ahead of the Commander’s Cup, the program balanced theory with practical drills, ensuring our players and officials are ready to perform at their best. On the final day, new skills were put into action through quick matches, showcasing the progress made.
As a lasting contribution, Australian Defence Force Sports donated Rugby Union kit, reinforcing the partnership and enabling the PNGDF to sustain their training program

Yesterday, 29 proud PNGDF officers graduated from the 1/2024 Joint Forces Commissioning Course, officially joining the Officer Corps and marking a major milestone in their careers and in the future leadership of our Defence Force.
Throughout the course, these officers demonstrated the qualities that define PNGDF leadership — discipline, tactical excellence, strong character, and an unwavering commitment to service. They trained across the full spectrum of military operations: from conventional warfare alongside partner nations to preparing for internal security operations that keep our nation safe and secure.
The ceremony was reviewed by the Governor General, His Excellency Grand Chief Sir Bob Dadae who formally presented each graduate with their Commission. Also in attendance were the Minister for Defence, Secretary for the Department of Defence, the Minister for Police, the Chief of Defence Force, Deputy Chief of Defence Force, and the Police Commissioner, reflecting the importance of joint leadership and inter agency cooperation in safeguarding Papua New Guinea.
🌟 To our graduates - your achievements make your families, your units and your nation proud. You are the next generation of leaders who will guide the PNGDF with honour, courage and professionalism.
✨ We also extend our thanks to the families and friends who have stood beside these newly commissioned officers throughout their course, and to those who were able to join us for their graduation yesterday. 🌊⚓ From the deck of HMPNGS Francis Agwi to the delivery ward in Pomio, our sailors proved that service goes beyond the sea.

During a recent visit to Pomio, HMPNGS Francis Agwi received a call to assist two mothers-to-be who were about to give birth.
A critical blood donation was required to support their births, and two sailors from HMPNGS Francis Agwi quickly answered the call.
Thanks to the sailors' timely blood donations, the two mums, one severely anaemic and the other giving birth to twins by caesarean, are recovering well and have three healthy babies between them!

Today at Taurama Barracks, soldiers from PNGDF’s 1st Royal Pacific Islands Regiment (1RPIR) showcased their growing expertise in operating up-armoured SUVs during a tactical exercise.
Traditionally a non‑motorised infantry unit, these soldiers are now expanding their capabilities by training with instructors from the Australian Army. The program covers vehicle formations, manoeuvres, and combat operations from within the vehicles.
The training also included emergency evacuation drills, ensuring soldiers can safely extract and care for injured personnel under battlefield conditions.
This partnership is strengthening PNGDF’s operational readiness and enhancing its ability to adapt to diverse operational situations. 🇵🇬🤝🇦🇺

🎶✨ What a week for the PNGDF Band!

We had the absolute joy of sharing music with the local POM community - from lifting spirits through songs at a local school to adding rhythm and pride to last night's Pukpuk Treaty Dinner.

At these events, we played side by side with our friends from the Australian Army Band. The rhythm and unity of our performances reflected the same trust and cooperation that underpins the PNGDF and ADF alliance.

Big thanks to everyone who clapped, danced and sang along - you made it an unforgettable week. Let’s keep the music alive!

Celebrating our latest course graduates!
Last week, the Director of Transport and Movement, LTCOL Linus Krewanty, proudly presented 10 senior soldiers with their graduating certificates from the Up Armored SUV Operator Course.
LTCOL Krewanty noted the professionalism of the graduates and the importance of accountability they have in maintaining these vehicles to ensure the safety of those who operate them.
The lightweight, armored vehicles were gifted by Australia to the PNGDF last year to better enable personnel to move securely and operate effectively across varied terrain.
Join us in celebrating these dedicated senior soldiers, who have worked hard over the past three weeks with their PNGDF instructors, assisted by members of the 2nd Cavalry Regiment - Australian Army to achieve this milestone, as part of Exercise Olgeta Warrior.

that today marks 58 years of service by the PNGDF Supply Company, formed on 26 July 1968 - seven years before our nation’s independence?
From its beginnings as the One Base Ordnance Depot, through its evolution into the Defence Support Agency, and now as the Supply Company within the Force Support Battalion, this unit has stood as the backbone of our Defence Force logistics.
For more than five decades, officers, non-commissioned officers and soldiers of the Supply Company have ensured that our Defence Force is equipped with the uniforms, boots, gear, and firepower needed to serve Papua New Guinea across land, sea, and air.
Last Friday, current serving members of our Supply Company came together to celebrate its history and enduring contribution to the strength of the PNGDF.
Officer Commanding, Major Chandrol Chalem (pictured) said that he was proud to lead the 72 men and women who currently work in the Supply Company.
He also said that during his three years with the Company it was important to recognise the work of his people and to celebrate the history of the Supply Company.
In Major Chalem’s words, “history shapes our future’.
