Depart from Meโ is not spoken to those who never believed in God. It is spoken to those who believed, preached, healed, and performed miracles, yet worked iniquity. These are people who used Godโs name for gain, fame, and status, not to practice the truth or submit to God. Their works appeared spiritual, but their hearts were corrupt, and they never truly knew Christ.
Everyone today are all spiritual with no truth at all because if you were you would recognise the work He is doing today! And that is a fact
Those who practice faith this way will never truly accept the truth, because they choose miracles over Godโs words. Just like the five thousand who followed Jesus for the loaves and fish, they were not seeking who Christ was, but what they could gain. When the miracles stopped and Jesus spoke the truth that exposed their hearts, many turned back and followed Him no more.
These people focus only on what the eyes can see signs, wonders, healings, numbers, reputation, and emotional excitement. They cannot see Godโs disposition, His requirements, or His judgment of corruption. They hear only rumors, testimonies of miracles, and surface stories, but they do not seek the truth itself or practice Godโs words.
Because of this, they resist God when He speaks truth. When God exposes corruption, demands repentance, or requires obedience rather than spectacle, they feel offended, confused, or disappointed. Instead of reflecting on themselves, they defend their works, their experiences, and their status.
This is why many who preached, healed, and cast out demons were still called workers of iniquity. Their labor was for fame, gain, and self-exaltation, not for transformation of life or submission to Godโs will. They wanted God to serve their ministry, rather than submitting themselves to Godโs truth.
Who are you today?
๐ซฃ The five thousand sought bread, not the Bread of Life (John 6). When Jesus stopped feeding their flesh and spoke truth that exposed their motives, many turned back and followed Him no more.
๐ซฃ The Pharisees and scribes constantly demanded signs, yet rejected the truth when it exposed their hypocrisy and threatened their status. They loved miracles that impressed, but hated truth that judged.
๐ซฃ Judas Iscariot followed Christ for benefit and expectation, not for the truth. Though he witnessed many miracles, his heart never changed, and he ultimately betrayed the Lord.
๐ซฃ Those in Matthew 7 prophesied, healed, and cast out demons in Jesusโ name, yet never practiced Godโs will. Their works appeared spiritual, but their hearts were corrupt, and Christ said, โI never knew you.โ
๐ซฃ Thomas refused to believe unless he could see and touch the nail marks. His faith depended on evidence, not on Christโs word. Though Jesus accommodated him, He exposed the weakness of this faith, saying, โBlessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.โ This shows that faith based on sight is lower than faith based on truth.
๐ซฃ Herod Antipas wanted Jesus to perform miracles for entertainment. When Christ spoke no signs and no flattering words, Herod mocked Him revealing a heart that treated God as a performer, not the truth.
๐ซฃ Simon the sorcerer believed and was baptised, yet still pursued spiritual power for gain and status. He wanted the Holy Spirit as a tool, not the truth as life, and was sharply exposed by the apostles.
If you cannot put God above your flesh, you are not truly following God.
