MEDIA RELEASE: announces awarding of License to Sea Park Development Limited

SEZA has approved a SEZ for a landmark investment for the Sea Park Development Project at Ela Beach with an value of PGK 2.2 billion. This will see a complete transformation of Port Moresby City and the Ela Beach precinct led by international . It is part of the Marape­-Rosso Government initiative and is being driven by Hon. Richard Maru, the Minister responsible for SEZ and the Ministry for International Trade & Investment ( ).

SEZA's participation in the 2025 Osaka Expo was an opportunity to market Papua New Guinea and SEZA to participants that want to invest in special economic zones (SEZ) in the country.

The SEZA Team was on hand to assist the hard-working Secretariat headed by Commissioner General Ambassador Gabriel Dusava set up and man the PNG’s pavilion.

The expo opened on 13 April 2035 in Yumeshima Island, an artificial Island in the Osaka Bay area, Kansai, Japan, and will close on 13 October 2025. It is coordinated by National Trade Office of PNG, under the Ministry of International Trade and Investment.

A total of 160 countries and 25 international organizations are expected to participate, and it is projected that approximately 28.2 million visitors will visit the expo site within the six (6) months.

The expo provides a great avenue to show case PNG’s investment opportunities for down-stream and value-adding of national resources in fisheries, agriculture, tourism, forestry and energy sectors as well as to promote and attract investors in SEZs.
