📰 UoG Vice-Chancellor Resigns

The University of Goroka Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Teng Waninga, has formally submitted his resignation, which will take effect on October 29, 2026. He will remain in office for a three-month notice period while the university council works to identify and appoint his replacement.

The resignation comes as the University of Goroka prepares for a transition in its leadership. The Higher Education Minister has confirmed that Dr. Waninga will continue performing his duties throughout the notice period.

Education Minister Orders Agency Heads to Submit Outstanding Reports by July 31

EDUCATION Minister Francis Kikin Siune has directed the heads of key agencies within the Ministry of Education to submit all outstanding annual reports and related Cabinet and parliamentary documents by July 31, saying accountability and transparency must remain central to the sector's operations.

The directive applies to Education Secretary Dr. Uke Kombra, Acting Teaching Service Commission Chairman Maini Ugaia, and Office of Library and Archives Director General Dennis Bagelo.
