Bay, Laguna - Personnel from the Bay Fire Station successfully spearheaded a comprehensive Fire Safety Seminar, Fire Drill, and Earthquake Drill at Maranatha Christian Academy in Barangay Calo, Bay, Laguna. The safety initiative aimed to equip students, faculty, and administrative staff with vital emergency preparedness knowledge and practical survival skills. By combining theoretical instruction with realistic disaster scenarios, local fire officials sought to instill a proactive culture of safety within the school community.
The activity opened with an interactive lecture where BFP officers discussed fundamental fire prevention techniques, common electrical hazards, and proper emergency notification procedures. Following the discussion, students and staff participated in a simulated earthquake drill, instantly executing the standard "Duck, Cover, and Hold" protocol as the alarm sounded. Designated marshals then guided everyone along pre-established evacuation routes toward the school's primary open field safe zone. To ensure fire safety competence, BFP personnel demonstrated the step-by-step use of fire extinguishers using the PASS method (Pull, Aim, Squeeze, Sweep).
BFP CALABARZON, under the leadership of our Regional Director, FCSUPT RENATO B CAPUZ, DSC, advocates campus safety, emphasizing that routine drills are essential for building muscle memory and reducing panic during real emergencies.
