ANTIQUE LTO CHIEF FINES VIRAL RECKLESS DRIVERS

ANTIQUE, Philippines — The Land Transportation Office (LTO) Antique District Office has intensified its enforcement efforts against motorists involved in alleged reckless driving incidents on Laua-an, Antique that recently gained public attention through viral social media posts.

Under the directive of ATTY. GAUDIOSO P. GEDUSPAN II, Regional Director of the Land Transportation Office Region VI, and through the leadership of MR. ERIC C. OTAYDE, Acting District Chief of the LTO Antique District Office, the Office promptly acted on the reported traffic violations and initiated the appropriate administrative proceedings against the concerned motorists.

As part of the enforcement action, Show Cause Orders (SCOs) were issued and served on August 25, 2026 to the concerned registered vehicle owners, identified drivers, and backriders involved in the reported incidents.

In compliance with the directive, the Office served the corresponding Show Cause Orders upon the concerned registered owners and identified individuals. The registered owners likewise cooperated with the Office in identifying the persons who were operating the motorcycles and those who were riding as backriders during the reported incidents.

Following the issuance of the Show Cause Orders, the concerned individuals appeared before the LTO Antique District Office to address the allegations and comply with the requirements of the administrative proceedings.

During their appearance, the concerned motorists were lectured on road safety, responsible driving, and the serious consequences of reckless and irresponsible driving.

The Office emphasized that traffic rules are established not only to ensure order on the road but, more importantly, to protect the lives and safety of motorists, passengers, pedestrians, and other road users.

The motorists were reminded that reckless driving may result in serious accidents, injuries, loss of lives, and corresponding administrative sanctions under existing traffic laws and LTO regulations.

Three of the identified drivers were issued Temporary Operator’s Permits (TOPs) after they were unable to present a valid driver's license. One of the individuals was reportedly found to be holding only a Student Permit.

The cases are also being processed for the applicable administrative sanctions, including the proposed one-year suspension of driving privileges, subject to the findings and determination of the proper adjudication.

The LTO Antique District Office emphasized that the enforcement action is not merely intended to penalize violations but also to educate motorists and promote a stronger culture of road safety and discipline.

The concerned individuals were properly informed of the allegations against them and were given the opportunity to submit their explanations and supporting evidence in accordance with due process and applicable LTO rules and regulations.

Under the leadership of Regional Director Atty. Gaudioso P. Geduspan II, and through the direction of Acting District Chief Eric C. Otayde, the LTO Antique District Office continues to respond promptly to reported traffic violations and strengthen its enforcement and road-safety initiatives.

Bilang bahagi ng mandato ng Land Transportation Office (LTO) na tiyakin ang kaligtasan ng publiko sa kalsada at ipatupad ang mga panuntunan para sa ligtas na pagmamaneho, agad na nag-isyu ng Show Cause Order (SCO) at nagsagawa ng imbestigasyon ang ahensya sa direktiba ni LTO Chief, Assistant Secretary Markus V. Lacanilao, kaugnay ng insidenteng naganap sa Marcos Highway, Antipolo City, Rizal, na kinasangkutan ng sasakyang minamaneho ng isang aktor.

Batay sa isinagawang imbestigasyon at mga nakalap na ebidensya, kabilang ang ulat ng Antipolo Component City Police Station, nawalan ng kontrol ang aktor sa minamaneho niyang sasakyan. Dahil dito, napunta ang sasakyan sa kabilang linya ng kalsada bago bumangga sa tatlong establisimyento at isang nakaparadang motorsiklo, kung saan isang indibidwal ang nagtamo ng sugat matapos mabangga ng sasakyan.

Sa inilabas namang pahayag, inamin ng aktor na siya ang nagmamaneho ng sasakyan at kinilala ang kaniyang pananagutan sa insidente matapos siyang makatulog habang nagmamaneho dahil sa matinding pagod. Ipinahayag din niya ang kaniyang kahandaang akuin ang buong personal at legal na pananagutan, kabilang ang pagtugon sa pangangailangan ng nasugatang indibidwal at sa mga pinsalang idinulot sa mga establisimyento.

Bilang bahagi ng proseso, kinakailangang humarap ang rehistradong may-ari at ang itinalagang drayber sa Intelligence and Investigation Division (IID) ng LTO para sa pagdinig na nakatakda sa Agosto 28, 2026. Inaatasan din silang magsumite ng sinumpaang paliwanag at mga kaukulang dokumentong maaaring magsilbing suporta sa kanilang panig kaugnay ng mga alegasyong nakasaad sa SCO.

Maaari namang maharap ang aktor sa kaukulang pananagutan para sa mga paglabag sa ilalim ng umiiral na mga batas at regulasyon ng LTO, kabilang ang Reckless Driving, gayundin ang posibleng pagsuspinde o pagbawi ng kaniyang lisensya sa pagmamaneho dahil sa pagiging Improper Person to Operate a Motor Vehicle.

"Bago pa man paandarin ang sasakyan, dapat alam na ng driver kung kaya niyang manatiling alerto hanggang sa makarating sa kaniyang destinasyon. Kung pagod o inaantok, huwag nang ipilit ang pagmamaneho dahil inilalagay lamang niya sa panganib ang kaniyang sarili, pati na rin ang ibang motorista at mga taong nasa paligid,” pahayag ni Asec. Lacanilao.

“Tungkulin ng LTO na ipatupad ang mga batas, at tungkulin ko ring hindi palampasin ang mga ganitong insidente. Isasailalim natin ito sa due process,” dagdag niya.

Habang nagpapatuloy ang imbestigasyon, inilagay na ng LTO sa alarm status ang pribadong sasakyan at inatasan ang aktor na agad na isuko ang kanyang driver’s license sa IID, na sasailalim sa 90-araw na preventive suspension.

Muling nananawagan ang LTO sa lahat ng motorista na maging maingat at responsable sa pagmamaneho. Kung pagod o inaantok, huwag nang ipilit ang pagmamaneho at maglaan muna ng oras upang makapagpahinga. Sa simpleng pag-iingat, maiiwasan ang aksidente at mapoprotektahan ang sariling buhay at kaligtasan ng ibang tao sa kalsada. Patuloy namang ipatutupad ng LTO ang mga batas at regulasyon upang mapanatili ang kaligtasan sa kalsada.

LTO Antique Chief Issues Show Cause Orders Over Viral Video of Alleged Reckless Motorcycle Riding

ANTIQUE, PHILIPPINES — Acting on the directive and order of LTO Region VI Regional Director Atty. Gaudioso P. Geduspan II, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) Antique District Office, through its Acting Chief Mr. Eric C. Otayde, has issued Show Cause Orders (SCOs) against three motorcycle riders and their identified passengers in connection with a viral social media video allegedly showing reckless and dangerous driving.

The incident gained public attention after a video circulated on social media showing motorcycle riders allegedly engaging in reckless driving and other possible traffic violations, including the apparent failure to wear the required protective helmets. The video also prompted the LTO Antique District Office to initiate appropriate action and determine the identities of the persons involved.

Following the directive of Regional Director Geduspan, the LTO Antique District Office conducted verification and identification of the individuals involved. The concerned drivers, together with the registered owner/s of the motor vehicle/s involved, subsequently voluntarily submitted themselves to the Office and received the Show Cause Orders issued against them.

The concerned individuals also manifested their willingness to cooperate with the investigation and accept whatever appropriate fine, penalty, or consequence may be imposed after due process and determination of the applicable violations.

Acting Chief Otayde emphasized that the issuance of the Show Cause Orders is part of the LTO's continuing efforts to promote road safety, responsible driving, and compliance with traffic laws and regulations.

The LTO Antique District Office likewise reiterated that social media videos depicting alleged traffic violations may be properly evaluated and acted upon when sufficient information is available to identify the persons and vehicles involved.

The issuance of the Show Cause Orders does not constitute a final finding of guilt. The concerned individuals are being given the opportunity to explain their side and submit relevant evidence before the Office makes a final determination in accordance with existing laws, rules, and regulations.

The LTO Antique District Office encourages all motorists to observe traffic laws at all times, practice defensive and responsible driving, and prioritize the safety of all road users.

Antique LTO Chief Warns Motorists Against Traffic Obstruction

SIBALOM, ANTIQUE — Motorists were reminded to strictly observe traffic rules and avoid obstructing the free flow of vehicles and pedestrians, particularly along the university belt of the University of Antique.

LTO Antique Acting Chief Eric C. Otayde, together with personnel of the PNP Highway Patrol Group, local police, and traffic enforcers, conducted a roadside monitoring and information drive targeting illegally parked vehicles and motorists causing traffic obstruction in the area.

The activity was conducted upon the request of the Municipality of Sibalom and Barangay District 1, Sibalom, in response to concerns over traffic congestion and road obstruction around the university area.

Otayde reminded motorists that public roads are intended for the safe and orderly movement of all road users. He urged drivers to use designated parking areas and refrain from leaving vehicles in places that could impede traffic, block access, or endanger pedestrians and other motorists.

The LTO also emphasized that the operation is primarily aimed at promoting road discipline, public safety, and voluntary compliance with existing traffic regulations. Motorists found violating traffic rules may face the appropriate enforcement measures under existing laws and regulations.

The joint effort also highlights the importance of cooperation among the LTO, law enforcement agencies, local government units, barangay officials, and the riding and driving public in maintaining safe and accessible roads.

“Roads are for everyone. Let us all do our part by following traffic rules, parking responsibly, and keeping the roadways clear,” Otayde said.

The LTO Antique further encouraged motorists, especially those frequently passing through the university belt, to exercise patience, discipline, and courtesy to help maintain smooth traffic flow and ensure the safety of students, pedestrians, commuters, and other road users.
