VISION:
Lyceum of Aparri Central library envisions itself as the institution’s center of knowledge resources, Christ-centered, support to the institution in producing leaders endowed with updated and quick access to various formats of information who deliver efficient services to its information users. MISSION:
Lyceum of Aparri strives to maintain a valuable library organization fully equipped with the highest quality of facilities manned by qualified and well-trained Christ-centered professionals. It supports the institution’s instructional, curricular and research programs through organized, relevant and fast delivery of information. Provide access to the learning resources and information services in support of the teaching, learning, and research activities of the academe.
2. Support the institutional and departmental research programs of the school by providing adequate library resources for the intellectual development and research undertaking of both the students and faculty.
3. Serve as a laboratory for special topics and collateral reading related to the subjects of the curricula.
5. Provide reading and research facilities and materials needed by the faculty.

CHED Conducts Technical Visit at Lyceum of Aparri

On September 17, 2026, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) conducted a technical visit and monitoring and evaluation at the Lyceum of Aparri (LOA), engaging the institution’s administrators, faculty, and personnel in a review of its academic and institutional practices.

The program opened with a prayer led by Koro Liseano, followed by the Philippine National Anthem led by Dr. Eden R. Purificacion. Rev. Fr. Joel M. Reyes, School President, delivered the welcome message, while Ms. Annaliza C. Balubal introduced the LOA administrators.

The CHED technical team, composed of Ma’am Anjanette Batulan, RQAT Member; Dr. Pilar B. Acorda, Education Supervisor II of CHED Regional Office II; and Dr. Leila Ar**la, Technical Panel Member, conducted the monitoring and evaluation activities through document review, discussions, and consultations with LOA officials and personnel.

As part of the evaluation, Chief Librarian Mrs. Melinda Villariña participated in the validation of the library’s compliance with applicable CHED requirements and standards, presenting relevant documents and information concerning the library’s resources, services, facilities, and operations.

The activity concluded with the presentation of findings by Dr. Leila Ar**la, followed by the Acceptance Message delivered by Dr. Evelyn L. Pascua, Vice President for Academics.

LOA expresses its sincere appreciation to the CHED technical team for the valuable guidance and feedback. The visit further strengthens the institution’s commitment to quality education, continuous improvement, and adherence to higher education standards.

On September 3, 2026, the Grade 2 students, together with their adviser, Ms. Cristine Mae Tumamao, participated in a meaningful lesson on the different kinds of Bibles.
The activity provided students with an opportunity to learn more about the Bible, its different forms and editions, and how these resources can be explored and used in their studies.

On September 3, 2026, the criminology students conducted their mock board examination at the Central Library, with the guidance and supervision of Professor Formaran.

The library provided a quiet, conducive environment for the students as they prepared for the Criminologist Licensure Examination.

On September 3, 2026, the Grade 5 students, together with their adviser, Ms. Juvie Pagaduan, participated in a meaningful lesson on the different kinds of Bibles.

The activity provided students with an opportunity to learn more about the Bible, its different forms and editions, and how these resources can be explored and used in their studies.

Lycean Journalist Shines in Bangkok, Earns International Honors

BANGKOK, THAILAND — Grade 10–St. Aloysius student Lance Derald P. Auingan brought pride to the Lyceum of Aparri and the Philippines after delivering an outstanding performance at the ASIAROPE International Round 2026, held at the Asawin Grand Convention Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand, on September 4–8, 2026.

Competing against delegates from Bangladesh, Bulgaria, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, South Africa, Thailand, and the Philippines, Auingan emerged as Top Scorer and 1st Runner-Up in Journalism.

He earned a Diamond Award in News Writing and Gold Awards in Feature Writing, Editorial Writing, and Science and Technology Writing.

His remarkable achievement reflects his dedication to journalism and brings international distinction to Lyceum of Aparri and the Philippines.

CATALOGING LECTURE FOR GRADE 6 STUDENTS
On September 2, 2026, the Central Library staff conducted a lecture for the Grade 6 students on the topic of Cataloging. The activity aimed to introduce the students to the basic concepts and processes involved in organizing and describing library materials.
The Chief Librarian, Melinda Villariña, gave an overview and summarized the overall cataloging process, emphasizing its importance in making library resources easier to organize, locate, and access.
The Assistant Librarian, Lani Dela Cuesta, provided a detailed step-by-step explanation of the cataloging procedures. She discussed the different parts of a catalog record and demonstrated how the information from a book is organized and recorded.
To reinforce the lesson, the I.T. Library staff provided a practical demonstration of the procedures discussed by Ma'am Lani. The demonstration allowed the students to observe how cataloging is applied in an actual library setting and helped them better understand the process.
The lecture and demonstration provided the Grade 6 students with a meaningful introduction to cataloging and strengthened their appreciation of how library materials are systematically organized for efficient use.

The graph indicates that, across departments, COMMERCE had the largest percentage of users, followed by ENGINEERING, CICS, LIBERAL ARTS, EDUCATION, SHS, HEALTH, CRIMINOLOGY, JHS, AND ELEMENTARY in the sequence.

Today, August 29, 2026, the Commerce students used the Central Library to practice shading their answer sheets for their midterm examination. The activity helped students become familiar with the proper shading procedure and prepare for the actual examination. The Central Library provided a quiet, conducive environment where students could focus and practice with confidence. Also, our MBA students used the Central Library for the midterm examination with Professor Luzviminda Sinon and Professor Ninia Lumauan.
