1. May senador na mamatay
2. May mag resign
3. May matanggal.

BREAKING: President Ferdinand Marcos has signed the bill postponing the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections (BSKE) to 2028, Palace Press Officer Usec. Claire Castro confirmed.

Republic Act No. 12326 also fixes the barangay and SK officials' term to five years.

Under the new law, the next regular BSKE is now set on November 13, 2028.

HOW POWERFUL IS SARA DUTERTE AS A POLITICAL FIGURE?

When constitutional rules become flexible in the middle of a high-stakes impeachment trial, the issue goes beyond Sara Duterte herself. It raises a much bigger question: Are constitutional rules fixed principles, or can they be adjusted when the political stakes are high?

If the threshold can be lowered because some senators are absent or unavailable, then the public deserves a clear constitutional basis for that change—not political convenience.

The Constitution should set the rules. The rules should not change because the person on trial is Sara Duterte.

And if Sara Duterte can only be defeated by changing the rules along the way—then the question is no longer just how powerful she is, but what her opponents are willing to risk to bring her down.

So the question is: If the rules can be bent for one impeachment case, what prevents them from being bent again when the next political target comes along?
